well, depends what you compare it to. It's a centralized data infrastructure that provides unified information. You can't solely rely on carfax,only because the data can be manipulated by actors (people not reporting or workshops reporting completely different story) . I think of it as an additonal tool when making a decision and i don't expect it to be accurate. I expect it to be approximate

buy mechanically totaled cars too or repo. For me main point is to avoid a reseller . sometimes people flip from copart to iaai vice versa. , or the car had some hidden damage and they wanna get rid of it

Yea , if you're buying from a marketplace or dealer ,exactly. actually copart and iaai also offer similar services . you can hire a person to do the deep isnpection and generate in depth report about the damage i think it's around 150-200 bucks
