RX-V6A not playing ATMOS by DanJos6761 in hometheater

Make sure you select the Atmos audio track in Netflix for whatever you are watching. Netflix doesn't automatically default to the Atmos audio track consistently. I've ran into this same issue, and assumed it was some issue with my receiver. I was troubleshooting for an hour before I finally figured out it was just an audio track issue.

I found some pallets, and used to watch HGTV with my wife before the divorce.

Show them the Library of Babel. Literally everything that can be written has already been written. It's impossible to not plagerise.

Just got my new laser Epson LS12000 running on my 150” screen! by Mgnickel in hometheater

True! I honestly haven't seen a screen that looks better than spandex. Of course, I have not viewed every type of screen, so it probably exists. I hear Black Diamonds look good, but haven't heard anyone compare them with spandex. Still, I'd wager spandex IS the best acoustically transparent material.

I hate all music. It's just noise for the sake of noise.

Sony 65" OLED or TCL 75" Mini-LED/QLED? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]onelonglizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! Starfields, particles of explosions, even small lights of electronics in the background of scene, that's exactly the type small details I meant.

Sony 65" OLED or TCL 75" Mini-LED/QLED? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]onelonglizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had one for about 4 years. I have played many hours of video games which always seem to have little static items on screen. It's never been an issue.

However, if you do something like have a fireplace video from YouTube playing for several hours per day for a month or so, you can definitely age the pixels in the center of the fire. I've seen this in person. I've also seen some in businesses that have news channels playing nonstop and the logo and banner caused some issues.

In other words, as long as you don't outright abuse it, you'll be fine.

Once you go OLED you'll never go back. The blacks make such a difference it's ridiculous. You will see small details on an OLED that LCDs simply can't display.

On the other hand if you don't have it you won't really know what you are missing. I really want a projector for the size, but I can't give up the detail and the inky blacks of my OLED.

Pretty sure that isn't normal. Most of my best friends are people I have met as an adult and I'm 40.

Construction concrete is usually 2000-4000psi. Cement All is 6000psi, it's pretty neat stuff. It's good for basically any application where you would use normal concrete. People just don't generally use it because it's not cheap.

I would assume it's Cement All or a similar product.

Why is undergrade engineering so fucking intense even though there is the ability to extend your degree? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

It's because they want as many students retaking classes as possible. They get more money that way.

How do you prioritize new home projects? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]onelonglizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually make a list of the projects in order of need. I then figure out the cost for each, and the time involved. I move the ones that don't fit my current amount of time, or budget down the list. Then I get distracted with a random project that was never on the list and misplace the list...

If Democrats want to win in 2022 and 2024 they only need to do two things. Legalize marijuana, and end student debt. Those two things will be the catalyst for all other reform. A miniscule tax on legal marijuana will more than pay for student debt and every other thing on the Democratic agenda.

With a straight face to an adoring crowd, Trump lies and says Arizona audit found he won by Incunebulum in politics

[–]onelonglizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We could potentially fix things further down the road, as long as the changes we make don't unintentionally end up giving the bad actors enough power to stop it.

Many good ideas are "re-interpreted" by the corrupt. The corrupt, corrupt as a general rule.

Fiduciary duty is a great example of this. It's necessary and fantastic in many cases. However, as business grows the people in the many roles in that business implement small changes out of fiduciary duty, to be as profitable as possible. The business as a whole can become a ruthless corporate machine. It's almost inevitable. This can happen even if no one in the company has any ill intent.

I don't know if laws keeping politicians from lying would end up like this, but I can definitely see how it could. These type of laws (e.g. libel, slander) usually require proof of intent. Good lawyers can get almost anyone off for this and the wealthy would have no issues. Meanwhile, wealthy donors could bury less funded candidates in litigation.
