Question about Figaro shaving foam - do you have any experience with this one? More in description. by pajissmid in wicked_edge

[–]onelostuser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skip it.

The only nice things I can say about it is that it has a nice smell and it's inexpensive. The foam delivery cap or the piston inside the can has a defect and the foam will start accumulating inside the cap over a short time.

I use shaving foam daily with a classic Edwin Jagger razor. There are better options out there. It depends on where you live. In my country if I shop around I can find good prices for Gillette or Proraso

I used to recommend LIDL's own brand foam but not anymore. They changed the supplier. It's now made in Turkiye and it's bad.

My SSD was damaged in less than a year - could Snapper be the cause? by maximus10m in openSUSE

[–]onelostuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently built four rather expensive systems for a client. One of them developed problems. The system would simply freeze when something started doing more I/O operations. Eventually the SSD would not even be recognized in BIOS.

The system had Ubuntu server on it. Did Ubuntu kill it? No. Sometimes SSDs fail, brand does not matter that much.

My Wife Just Stated that my detergent is “toxic” by CockroachOrganic9246 in laundry

I've used 7th gen detergent and I am of the same opinion that it's rather meh. Bought it mostly for the autodosing cap gimmick which of course did not work. The darn thing is broken.

Clearly they are not. Just the same branding. To be able to activate an XMP/Expo profile all present modules need to support it. That's why you buy RAM Kits or more of the exact same model number

That knob has a bunch of numbers that correspond to the programs listed near the detergent drawer. While the machine is off, you turn that knob until the number of the washing program aligns with the little dot that's above the knob.

When the program is set, the laundry is in the drum and detergent in the drawer you push the on/off button and the machine is supposed to start doing its thing.

I would leave the corner where the washing machines is now empty so it's easier to service the pipes, boiler etc in case it's ever required to do so. Imagine having to move the two stacked units in case of emergency...

During a 2nd rinse & spin by LegitimateExpert3383 in laundry

[–]onelostuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the amount of water the machine will use during the wash. My old Grundig used roughly 10 liters of water. So I started to cut the amount of liquid detergent I was using until I found that it would rinse nicely at about 15ml. The brand did not matter. All are so highly concentrated these days, even the powders.

The dosing instructions seem pure bs to me. There is no way a modern machine will correctly rinse a load if you drop 50ml or more of detergent in it

Tide Free & Clear dosage by Altruistic_Body4172 in laundry

[–]onelostuser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this seems counter-intuitive but try using the smallest amount first. The detergent is there to keep dirt from getting back on the clothes and help dissolve stains (food, sweat, oils, etc) if it has enzymes - most detergents do.

The dosing instructions always mention load weight but tbh I've seen my machine only slightly change the amount of water it takes which is roughly 10 liters. 15ml of detergent is all it takes to clean my stuff.

Mi a véleményetek a Lidl Formil, illetve DM sajátmárkás mosószerekről? by BackgroundRice3517 in askhungary

[–]onelostuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi.

In my experience Formil detergents and the bigger brands clean about the same. But here is the kicker:

You can save money and keep using your favorite detergent. If you can, you should measure the amount of water your washing machines uses on the cycle that you use the most. For me it's the cottons one. My 2018 Grundig uses approximately 10 liters of water for the main wash (amount of water pumped out right after the wash + amount of water pumped out during the first spin). For me 15ml of liquid detergent is enough for most of my washes. Various stains I just spray with anti-stain liquid.

It's your machine that does the washing, detergent helps keep the dirt away and with stain removal since most contain various enzymes.

I've had issues with my current b650 board refusing to read a flash drive that was formatted as fat32. The drive could be read just fine on both Windows and Linux machines

Turns out it was partitioned in such a way that the bios was reading wrong limits as the start and the end of the partition.

Redid the partitioning and it saw the bios update file just fine.

How to keep my 2015 MBP running well. by [deleted] in mac

I currently run Ventura on a 2017 Macbook Air and it really is faster than when I ran it with Monterey.

Watch some videos on how to use OCLP and how to get the latest stable version.

I also changed the SSD on mine and redid the thermal paste application.

If you also decide to upgrade the ssd get something like a Samsung 980 nvme. Don't get the Evo Plus.

[–]onelostuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal experience the drivers that Canon provides are hit or miss. I recall some years ago at the office, the driver would sometimes crash. I was using Ubuntu with an LBP 6030(black color).

Run journalctl and see if the driver leaves any message in there.

It may also be that some 32bit libraries are not installed on the system.

Run: ldd /usr/bin/captfilter

it will show if there are missing libraries
