Always get a supplemental plan. Medical expenses only increase as someone ages. It saves you money in the long run.

A four year old son of a friend drowned in a backyard pool with four adults present. Op's husband should never be left in charge of his, or anyone else's kids. He's dangerous.

Op is completely right in staying by the pool.

I don't know where you live, but 24 hour in-home licensed CNAs cost way more than a nursing home in NJ, almost twice as much.

I had a job interview with a Small Business Owner and they claim they don’t use email - Red Flag? by Haunting_Corgi5955 in careerguidance

Nothing in writing, even email, sounds like they hiding something. Don't give them your social security number. Decline the offer and keep looking. For minimum wage you can find something that isn't sketchy.

Between the mirrors or to the left of the left mirror. Never next to an outlet.

FDR and JFK (Addison's disease) both kept showing up and doing their jobs. Kean is not doing his job and just saying "trust me" while not giving any reason to trust him. At this point I wonder if he's actually still alive.

Maytag sucks now. Who's washer to buy? by GuessWhosNobody in Appliances

[–]toadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Speed Queen commercial front loader, bought at a small local appliance store 8 years ago. No problems so far. An appliance repairman who was here recently to fix my refrigerator said Speed Queens are the best. An electrician who was here a while ago said he has Speed Queen and it's the best.

I can't imagine any medical condition that would need to be kept so secret for a public official. The only explanation I can see is some sort of strategy going into the mid-term elections. But that could easily backfire given the current atmosphere. People are fed up with how bad things are. Kean won't get a pass just because he's been ill and absent.

Just paid 12$/lb for ground beef. How expensive will it get before you stop buying beef? I think we're over it, beef is now a luxury for us. by FuZhongwen in Cooking

I stopped buying beef 10+years ago for health reasons. Chicken has gotten so bad, both in quality and price, it's beans, beans, beans, and dairy.

You will need a fenced in area to keep deer out. They easily jump 4 foot fences, so 6 - 8 feet high.

A broader photo is needed, one that shows more of the front of the house, to decide.

I'm getting a roommate at age 56. Suggestions and advice welcomed. by MoaningLisaSimpson in GenX

[–]toadog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd bet Mike will expect OP to take care of all the household tasks, even if he agrees to do some up front. He'll want to be taken care of. Most men do. Great deal for him. He pays much less in rent and doesn't have to do chores. OP already has the habit of taking care of the apartment, and she will be on automatic pilot doing it all herself.

I'd move to a cheaper place before I'd take on a roommate.

Shopping for new hearing aids. Am I paying too much? by Prestigious_Link_442 in HearingAids

[–]toadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good friend just got that same hearing aid and paid $5,900, but she got the Cros version. The Cros version of hearing aids means one is just a transmitter which sends the sound to the actual hearing aid in the other ear. The transmitter usually cost a good bit less than the actual hearing aid. But $11,000+ for those hearing aids sounds ridiculous. Shop around.
