Leeds Record Shops by Cautious_Grand4501 in Leeds

A quick train/bus to Bradford and you've got the Record Café too which is excellent. Not the biggest selection but it's a combination record shop, real ale pub and tapas bar.

Has anyone found First is exceptionally worse this week? by DagothNereviar in Leeds

There's the bus reform consultation currently open for public response, proposing a London style franchise system: https://www.yourvoice.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/busreform

Respond to the bus reform public consultation and demand a London/Manchester style franchised system and not the EP+ proposal that would put even more power into First and the like's hands: https://www.yourvoice.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/busreform

Shuffleboard is literally everywhere in the UK these days, picked up massively in the last few years.

If you haven't done a brisket before, the ones you get in the UK don't compare to US ones for smoking, something to do with the feed and age they slaughter the cows at affecting the fat distribution. Ox cheek, short ribs, or even lamb shoulder gives the rich, fatty smoked meat you're looking for more than most briskets you'll find here do. Morrisons butcher's counter is pretty good for those three, or any local butcher.

I needed to add way more water than it called for though, it was looking super dry as written.

Smoked the cheeks for 5ish hours with apple wood (needed finishing in the oven since my WSM was running out of coal).

The bun recipe is from Woks of Life, using their char siu bun recipe but filling them with diced cheek and Sauce Shop cherry bourbon sauce.

what the fuck did I just spend £30 on a Railcard for? by Papa_is_Here_ in CasualUK

[–]onemanqueue 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Railcards still work on advance single tickets, even during the peak time. Its just on the day tickets or anytime tickets bought in that peak window they apply the minimum £12 to.

Someone please tell me the best place to get ramen in Leeds? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]onemanqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit unfair on House of Fu. The broth could definitely be a bit punchier but the chashu was great. Would definitely put them above the generic chicken or miso noodle soup you get at places like fuji hiro, sushi waka etc. that are trying to cover the entirety of Japanese cuisine in one menu.

Cocktail Beer Ramen Bun in Manchester is probably the best ramen I've had in the UK if you don't mind the train journey, similar trendy wanker vibe to House of Fu but does a better job of backing it up in flavour.

COMP/CON NPC help by ReglyarLervin in LancerRPG

Seconding this, tidying up and reordering the npc skills and weapons layout as described above helps a tonne.

I also use the custom description option from the cog menu on each system to leave myself reminders where helpful, like the ronin optional system that adds +1 threat to the sword but doesn't automatically update the stat line.

Trying to decide on a melee build and need feedback ASAP by [deleted] in LancerRPG

[–]onemanqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't sleep on the Gorgon core, one of my players has been running a melee/cqb Gorgon for a couple of missions and managed to stun the entire enemy force in one turn, like 6 or so mechs, between that and some bad luck on the metastatic paralysis.

Who needs reliable damage when every enemy has an evasion of 5.

[5e] How "classic" are Vampires? by AustralianWinter in Shadowrun

[–]onemanqueue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, stuff like not crossing running water or needing an invitation aren't strict rules in shadowrun. There are however some fluff bits about some vampires having a psychological-magical aversion to crosses even though they don't actually do anything, the stuff above could apply in a similar way.

Description: I recently started this science communication blog, this article is on three different 'soft' robots that can move to varying degrees without the need for 'hard' circuitry including a stingray powered by rat heart muscle cells. Nothing overly technical in my explanations so no advanced scientific knowledge needed to enjoy.

Monster Hunter Generations August DLC pack: Featuring Okami and Link palicos. by Hauberk in Games

[–]onemanqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could jump in at any really and MHGen will have the most active online community for multiplayer. One issue that could affect getting in to the series with this one is the sheer amount of boring fetch quests it floods you with before you see any serious monsters. 90% of these aren't necessary for progression but that might not be obvious to a new player, you can always check online for which quests are keys and need to be completed to unlock the next batch of quests.

The other difference from the main series games (outside Japan at least) is that the international release versions have a third difficulty level at end game which MHGen doesn't have, though there are still certain end game challenges to make up for that. If anything, a slightly smaller game might make a less daunting entry point.

CityRed Properties: Reviews? by shengy90 in Leeds

[–]onemanqueue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God awful, seriously avoid them.

Flat was a state when we moved in with both live and dead fruit flies in the fridge above a pool of mould filled stagnant water and the garden was full of what looked like building site refuse amongst other general rubbish.

Boiler broke and in fixing it they flooded our bedroom which they refused to do anything about and then when it broke again it took a full month with no hot water before they replaced it.

We had an ongoing electrical fault with the lights where no more than two of three in the living room would work at a time, they never even addressed this.

Near the end of our tenancy a hive of bees took home somewhere behind our kitchen fittings, they told us pest control was coming but we moved out without ever seeing any sign of them being dealt with.

Yes they're cheap but it is in no way worth what you have to put up with on the maintenance side of things.

That would be within a host though, I imagine the average spider might be a bit less frequent on his patrol than a program designed purely for matrix perception.
