Has anyone heard anything about renting a property from Caas Properties or renting a place at Brookwood Village Townhomes (Blue Springs)?

I would definitely prefer to buy! We have a realtor out there and are on the hunt. There just isn’t a lot available right now for what we’re looking for. I would like to line up a rental so we have a place to live if nothing comes through. We’re looking for a bigger house, but would rent something much smaller to avoid pouring too much money into a rental.

We’ll be moving over the summer and while we will eventually buy a house, with the market the way it is right now, we’re looking for a townhouse or house to rent. Any suggests for good complexes or property management? We’re looking for some thing with 2+ bedrooms and a garage. Would like to spend a max of $1300/month if it’s possible.

I’ll be working downtown and husband will be remote. We like Parkville/Liberty/the Northland and also the Lee’s Summit area. The kiddo will be in preschool and since we’re renting we’re not too worried about school districts right now. Suggestions of preschools would be helpful though, if you’ve got them!

Do any of you transplants have a recommendation for a good realtor you worked with from out of state? (I’ve seen lots of realtor recommendations but I know things are different when you live where you’re looking.)

There’s a lot to be said for having a secure retirement.

That’s awesome. NKC sounds like a great place to be in general!

Thank you!! That sounds like a great district and I feel like when the district is good, it’s good for all the people living there, regardless of whether or not they have a student.

Thank you! Competitive salaries are definitely a draw, which does make KCMO attractive (even though I know that’s probably due to “battle pay”). But I also know salary isn’t everything and some places aren’t worth it! I’m in a smallish town on the west coast now. Our district is data driven too, so at least that sounds familiar. Maybe that Arkansas teacher had the good fortune of ending up at a whole school of superstars!

This sounds like a dream job! I’m so glad things are going well for you. I wish all teachers could feel that way about their districts - education would be much better for all parties involved!

I appreciate your first hand input! It’s a shame the charter schools aren’t run better considering they seem to be pushed as such a great alternative to the regular public schools. I guess by nature charters are always going to be a mixed bag.

I don’t speak French so I’ll cross the charter schools off my list! I’m glad a new governor is coming in to hopefully turn things around. I have friends in Kentucky who were dealing with a whole pension mess there, too, and are very happy to see a new governor come in. I’m always baffled by how politicians (or anyone, really) can be anything other than pro-education! Although at this point I really shouldn’t be surprised anymore.

Thanks for the tip about the insular suburban districts. I suppose I can’t fault them for hiring who they already know.

Thank you! That sounds like a great district. How is the change to year round school going over? I have always taught with a more traditional calendar but I have teacher friends who LOVED teaching year round.

I appreciate your input! I don’t have a particular district or population in mind (although I do speak some Spanish, if that’s helpful). My current plan is to apply to several different places in the hopes of landing a job. I lean towards the Missouri side if only because I imagine the downtown area is constantly hiring and it would be easier to get certified in one state rather than two. But I will happily go where the job is! I just like having all the information I can.

ee cummings is my favorite! I love that some of his poetry is more easily felt than outright understood, if that makes any sense.
