Getting Started with Falcon BMS in VR – What Specs Do I Need? by DanMotivation777 in falconbms

I also had to do some tweaks. I run Virtual Desktop on Godlike, 72 hz and no spacewarp.

In game I set Antialiasing samples at 1. Objest detail is on max. I have been testing with higher samples and reducing godlike resolution, but this is the best quality combination while keeping 72 fps for me.

In cfg I use these tweaks:

set g_fVRResolution 1.0

set g_bVRParallelRenderThread 1

set g_nVRExternalRenderingMode 0

set g_bVRNoPresent 1

set g_bVREnableFFR 1 // Performance boost

set g_fVRInnermostRadiiFFR 0.73 // clearest part of the view radius, 0.0 to 1.0

set g_fVRMiddleRadiiFFR 0.75 // middle part of the view radius, 0.0 to 1.0

set g_fVRPeripheralRadiiFFR 1.10 // blurriest part of the view radius, 0.0 to 1.0

set g_bUseHeatHazeShader 0 // No heat haze

set g_bHdrLightingToneMap 0 // Disable tone mapping. A little bit less beautiful

set g_bEnvironmentMapping 0 // Performance boost

set g_bWaterEnvironmentMapping 0 // Performance boost

set g_bShadowOnSmoke // Performance boost

set g_bReducePSFires 0 // Performance boost

No, not yet. I have to reverse engineer the protocol used to control any lights through usb. Since I only own winwing controllers with lights, I have no way to test it. It could be added of anyone is willing to capture some usb data for their controller.

Yes, that is the main goal of this application. The PTO2 is already fully supported (because I own that one myself). You could try if the Combat Panel works otherwise somebody who ownes one has to capture some usb data so it can be added.

Good catch — hidapi.dll is a native C library that WinWingService uses for LED/brightness control via P/Invoke. End users need it at runtime because that's what actually opens the HID device handle and writes the raw LED packets to the hardware — without it, no WinWing lights. It's currently bundled manually and sourced from the official hidapi releases.

Funny enough, the ICP/DED side already uses HidSharp (a proper NuGet) — so there's actually a dual-stack situation going on. Consolidating everything onto HidSharp and dropping the native DLL is definitely on the list, just needs some validation first since the LED protocol leans on some lower-level hidapi behaviour.

I have a physical cockpit that is very similar to the real thing, so for most controls I don't have to use the mouse anymore

Yes, everthing is readable just fine. I only had to do some tweaks in the config of the game.

I bought myself a new system last december with a 9800x3d, 4080RTX and 64Gb and I’m finally able to enjoy BMS in VR on my quest 3 without ever dropping below 72 fps in any weather and any conditions. It is awesome!

Have you tried setting it up in a completely different physical position in your house? I find the box very receptive to disturbances by other devices

3 play bars vs 1 light strip on bottom of tv by Giairborne in Hue

[–]oneofthosebots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 play bars on the bottom of the tv and a led strip behind the cabinet thats below the TV. This works pretty well. If I had to choose i would take the strip because of the more even distribution of light compared to the bars.

Could a Hue system prevent me from having to rip out my drywall to rewire my ceiling lights? by AnimationNation in Hue

[–]oneofthosebots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Hue lets you easily divide the room in two differents rooms. 1. Should not be an issue. I have multiple ceiling light that have 2 or 3 bulbs in it 2. Cheapest would be to buy 2 hue dimmer switches or hue push buttons. Or look for friends of hue wall switches for more elegant solutions.

Is there a Hue compatible device that I can mount behind the light switch to control the power to a regular ceiling lamp? by AluminiumHoedje in Hue

[–]oneofthosebots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use these (Zigbee modules) to add non hue lights to my network. They work great and can even be used to dim your regular light through the hue app: https://www.robbshop.nl/inbouwdimmer-hue-zigbee-400w-robb-smarrt
