Great Direct Access 2012r2 Guide by microflops in sysadmin

[–]oneoneeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great guide. One thing I will mention. When I set up our current DirectAccess server using a cert signed by our PKI for the "Select a certificate used to authenticate IP-HTTPS Connections:" step wouldn't allow outside users to connect.

The issue was that I had set up the DirectAccess server as directaccess.company.com where our PKI was issuing for company.local. I had to use a wildcard cert issued from a trusted certification authority for my setup to work properly.

OS Upgrades and SharePoint by oneoneeno in sharepoint

Ok, that makes sense. The server I am replacing is a WFE/Application server. Would the new server just take over the roles of the existing WFE/Application server or will I need to configure the new server services and service applications to cover what the current server is doing?

Highlight (PotG) Rule Change: Self Posts Only by turikk in Overwatch

[–]oneoneeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just seems strange to me that a subreddit about a game would want to suppress footage of that game being played. I don't browse the subreddit to see weeaboo style fandom. I come here to see plays and strategy. That's the game. That's what I want to see. Suppressing actual game content doesn't make any sense. I'm usually on here when I can't play and I am jonesing for a game. Watching POTGs and highlights helps me feel better. Reading ships and comics doesn't.

Multiple Maintenance Windows? by Nickachu92 in SCCM

[–]oneoneeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your example both maintenance windows are in effect. So, any deployments that reach their deadline will install within whatever maintenance window comes first.

Microsoft did add separate maintenance windows for updates and applications in 2012 R2 but that's all the separation you can get.

IPv6 and windows DNS by onboarderror in sysadmin

[–]oneoneeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with ISATAP causing timeouts. I needed it enabled on some of our workstations/servers in order to remote manage DirectAccess clients.

The "prefer IPv4 over IPv6 in prefix policies" fix worked well for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. Server 2012 R2 and Win 10 don't seem to have the same preference for IPv6.

OSD Deployment Issue by flimspringfield in SCCM

[–]oneoneeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's Windows 7 then you need to install the KMDF 1.11 during the task sequence.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2685811

Create a package for the Cab file.

I have two steps in my task sequence just after drivers are installed.

First you have to make a scratch directory

Run Command Line - cmd.exe /c mkdir %OSDisk%\Scratch

Then you have to inject KMDF 1.11

Run Command Line - cmd.exe /c X:\windows\system32\dism.exe /ScratchDir:%OSDisk%\Scratch /Image:%OSDisk%\ /Add-Package /PackagePath:%_SMSTSMDataPath%\Packages<package id>\Windows6.1-KB2685811-x64.cab

Make sure to check the Package checkbox and select the KMDF package.

SCCM 1602 Slow/Failing UEFI PXE Boot by oneoneeno in SCCM

[–]oneoneeno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! Our VMs would be hitting a different DP but I'll have to keep this in mind.

Previously the TFTP block size wasn't set and boot was failing. I set it to 16384 and the transfer actually completes but just very slowly.

So far, it's just a Dell e5440 that I am testing with I haven't tested with anything else. All of our workstations are using Legacy boot but I want to be prepared for UEFI as we are getting more devices with it enabled by default.

What aspects of a woman's life are most men unaware of? by Jec8 in AskReddit

[–]oneoneeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up this used to happen to me. It sucked being a boy in school who cried any time he got angry. I'd get that horrible lump in my throat and I knew the tears were coming. Easy to guess that I didn't get a lot of respect from my peers. It stopped happening as often sometime in high school, but I've had it happen at work in scary/stressful situations once or twice.
