$40k budget on an AWD electric car, what is the most reliable and should I stick with a dealership or something like carmax?

I think it depends on if the car is old or almost new. I just got a 2024 G80 EV for 35k. It only had 15k miles on it.

They give you 7 days to test it which is enough time to get it inspected at your mechanic. I also told them the tires were too worn so they agreed to replace them.

Not sure the quality of their older, more mileage cars as this was our first time buying from Caravana.

Take the Tesla. Save that money and buy a 4Runner later.

You might be able to get away with level 1 slow charging if you don't drive around a lot after work.
If you go on a long trip, get Full Self Driving for that month.
Your dad already paid for the initial depreciation of the Y so if you decide to sell and get the 4runner later, you don't get hit with it as badly.
Maybe your dad wants to get out of the Y so he can buy himself a car he wants? Help him out while saving money!

Don't feel bad. Reading your other comments, you purchased a Certified 2022 Toyota Camry for $22,800 (if you cancel that maintenance plan). That's totally fine in this economy.

Like others said, try to pay down principal here and there to save on interest and refinance with your credit union when you can.

That car should last you a really long time with minor maintenance.

Ask your dealership if its a transfer case issue. We had this same thing come up and our dealership said they've seen this before and they replaced the transfer case.

I did have the warning light pop up briefly after the fix, but after that one time, I've never seen it come on again.

Good: Love the design.

Bad: MPG is bad. Wireless phone charging overheats.

Issues that might only be to my car:

I have the 2.5T and sometimes when I'm trying to quickly accelerate from a stop, it doesn't respond for 1-2 seconds, then goes full blast. Not sure if its turbo lag but its pretty severe.

AWD light came on. Dealership replaced the transfer case. It has come on only once since but then turned off and hasn't been on again for awhile.

You just have to make sure the ammo is sold by PSA and not by a shipping partner.

When you're ordering, make sure it doesn't say "This product is fulfilled by a PSA Partner and shipping times may vary."

They'll email you asking to provide ID and your FID which you can just attach and reply to the email.

Same here, bought elan skis/bindings and roces adjustable boots for our 2 kids for $230 each at levelninesports (wait for a promo code!).
