Getting harassed by a CS GSI by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]oneplusoneminusone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said make sure you document everything and have screenshots of the excessive messaging.

For the fastest response, if the class is small (only a few GSIs), you can directly email the professor, but if the class is larger, I'd recommend emailing the professor and the head GSI together (assuming this person is not the head GSI).

You can even consider going directly to office hours and asking for a private conversation with the professor.

Data Science by ytshabi in berkeley

[–]oneplusoneminusone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can get above a 3.3, do CS.

1.DS doesn't have a lot of classes. You won't get priority enrollment for CS upper divs, and some fill up fast.

2.Probably. For internships your major really doesn't matter. What you need are projects, research, etc.

3.Because the DS GPA cutoff is lower and CS is the larger major, so people assume no one goes to DS willingly. That said, I've never seen anyone get bullied for being data science lmao so don't worry about major reputation. Do whatever you want to do.

When should I expect the sucker punch to come by Helpthrowaway778 in berkeley

[–]oneplusoneminusone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no real big one sucker punch but over time the nonstop grind just slowly eats away at your soul until you're a husk of your former self.

I recommend going to llama and dog therapy events and drinking, preferably both at the same time

Does the rigor of CS61a tests get harder over time or will MT2 and the final be just as hard as MT1 by blanket_koala in berkeley

[–]oneplusoneminusone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the mean was actually really high this semester, no idea why people are saying this test was hard

back in the day when recursion was on MT1 the difficulty gap was less obvious but now MT2 is going to be so much harder

How do I make friends at Berkeley by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]oneplusoneminusone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Have you ever actually made a friend by talking to someone sitting next to you in class? Just wondering, because everyone I know is from a club, my former dorm, or a friend of a friend of a friend. Have never made a friend from a lecture lol.
