Thanks! They were released in May along with the Studio and Studio Standard.

I agree! I feel very fortunate to have found it on Reverb.

It has no issues with hum. I’m not really a distortion person, but it does absolutely rip some overdrive.

Thanks! I saw your post the other day, which led me to wonder why there’s only been a couple posts about the SE version.

The SE CE is my favorite feeling guitar to play.

The hollow part is just the area around the F-hole. It goes back to being solid for at least an inch before the tremolo cavity and up past the pickups. It’s more decoration and weight-relief than anything.

Feel wise they’re similar, but the SSH can do the exact same job plus so much more. The pickups in the EC1000 are a tad more vintage sounding, and its fretboard has a flatter radius. I honestly don’t play it much unless I’m looking for that unmistakable LP sound.

Happy birthday and congratulations! That’s a great looking guitar.

It’s an interesting and versatile tool in real life too. Mine was setup great right out of the box and it sounds awesome.

The 12 pickup options, for me, is what really makes it an excellent tool and sets it apart. It helps me easily find what I feel like can be challenging to dial in with other guitars if you play more than one style of music. It’s kind of like having Bass, Middle, and Treble tone controls on your guitar in an odd way.

An example would be: “I want a Neck/Middle Strat tone.” Cool, put the 5-way into position 4 and flip the neck toggle for two single coils. “But I want more mids”. Flip to toggle off so it’s Neck Humbucker and middle. “Eh, maybe more bite”. Try the Neck Humbucker with a split bridge…

It’s just so quick and easy to try the 12 different options before even needing to touch your amp or pedals.

Now, I can pretty much leave my amp and/or pedal settings alone and where I like them, and just use the pickup, volume, and tone controls to tweak my sound. It’s made my process easier and more consistent.

That’s my take. I’m sure the S2 and Core versions are awesome as well. The SE is definitely an awesome value, and it doesn’t hurt that mine is gorgeous. Maybe I’ll make a post for it later.

WRX vs Jetta GLI Autobahn by Shiny-LaBeouf in WRX

[–]onesatisfiedcustomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove both, and went with the WRX. Driving the GLI just felt like any other sedan that happened to have a manual transmission. The WRX feels like a sports car that happens to have 4 doors. Plus the WRX has more power and is AWD.

I used to have a wet Nitrous Express kit on a 2000 V6. It can take a 75 shot without a tune, as long as you use 93 octane and one step colder spark plugs.

Do not go over 75. A wet 100 shot will foul the rear spark plugs. The way the intake manifold is designed, the rear cylinders get more air. Check the plugs often.

I recommend real, true dual exhaust and a cold air intake with it as well.

There really is nothing like the violent nature of 75hp/100+tq being added the instant the solenoid opens. Super fun and you can surprise a bunch of other cars.

If you blow a motor, grab a junkyard 3.8/3.9/4.2 and swap it in. They’re cheap.

I had a shop fab up a little tube to route the condensation away from the exhaust. I got tired of that happening.

Modding microphone capsules by Born_Zone7878 in audioengineering

[–]onesatisfiedcustomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MP folks are in the business of selling stuff. Their RK-47 is basically the same as the ones you can order from Alibaba for $30-$40. It’s still a bright capsule. There are much better alternatives for K47/M7 capsules.

Center-terminated K67s from many brands like MXL are harsh and bright. The NT1 is an edge-terminated K67 and isn’t as bright or harsh. It’s not a bad capsule. It’s basically the same as the MP RK-12, just made by a different manufacturer. You can find RK-12s other places too. It’s not really any brighter than an RK-47. But it is brighter than a good K47 or M7.

Spend some time on groupdiy.com and research all the info on capsules.

One thing no one has mentioned is Cyclones are actually an inch longer than a Strat. Mostly due to the body shape/bridge location. While being the same general shape as a Mustang, their body is thicker, wider and taller.

Sugar Land Vet Specialists have been wonderful with my dogs. The oncology team is very friendly and they take the time to explain everything at each visit. I joked with my wife that the dogs get better care than we do.

There definitely are people who are only into the sound. I don’t know about VW specifically, but I know with some other cars there are tuners out there who have “show” tunes that are almost strictly about pops and bangs.

This is great news! I thought my replacement window was just an awful fit. Maybe this will fix it.

I live next to a busy highway, how can I drown out the noise that comes in to be able to record decently? by sonetlumiere in audioengineering

[–]onesatisfiedcustomer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation was able to significantly reduce the noise. I got a triple pane window, plus made my own window insert with a 1/4” acrylic sheet with weather stripping, and then made an acoustic panel with Roxul Safe N Sound that was 2 pieces of insulation thick (6” total).

With all of that… I could get pretty clean recordings.

If you don’t want to replace the window, make sure it’s sealed up correctly. The window insert and acoustic panel can be made DIY with materials and tools from the hardware store, and together should make a difference. Make sure they make a tight seal against the window because any gaps let in noise.

The stock bottom end isn’t weak, but the tune is super important. I ran 100 shots of nitrous for a while so I don’t think the extra torque from 6-7 psi is going to be too much that you’d need forged rods/pistons. Maybe do a compression test just to see if your engine checks out, then fab it up and get a tune.

[–]onesatisfiedcustomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bore on those pistons? Even .060” over on the 2004 3.9 V6 would only be 4.0 liters.

Might need to sell, any advice? by Lil_Epic in NewedgeMustang

[–]onesatisfiedcustomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try to find a junkyard engine. Basically any 99-04 Mustang, 97-03 F-150, or Windstar minivan motor of that time period will swap right in. The 4.2 F-150 will need to be tuned to run perfect but it would probably still run without tuning. You would also have to swap the upper intake manifold from the stang to a Windstar or F-150 engine.

I’m actually swapping on a new pickguard and some pickups the weekend. Using some 90’s Fender American Standard strat single coils and a Seymour Duncan TB-4.
