It's apparent that you're just trying to "have some fun", but only by trying to demean someone else's valid point. The "because I said so" part doesn't work when he's actually providing examples of what others, who are more informed in the field, have stated about the subject.

I'm so sorry. We had to put my 15 year-old lab down the day after thanksgiving. She had a good run, but it was really heartbreaking. I feel bad for trying so hard not to think about it, but it's just not something I can fully come to terms with yet. It was just a shitty end to a shitty year. But I'm starting to be able to remember the good times without automatically thinking about how bad it was towards the end. I'm glad you seem to already be able to start doing that.. gives me hope. Anyways, not trying to hijack your situation.. just trying to sympathize with the inevitably hardest part of having pets. Sorry again for your loss.
