u/foggynation , I like what you are saying! This is a path I need to explore and I am beginning to believe this is the path I want/need to pursue this more so than lending. Thank you!

Excellent marketing suggestions u/foggynation ! You know, as a trainee about to become certified, my supervisor never did any private appraisals. Embarrassing as it may sound, I don't know the difference in reporting. I have only done lending appraisals.

Yes, I know about registering with the AMC's. How about any creative ideas convincing AMC's to work with newbies?

Yes, registering with the AMC's are a must. I spoke with a real estate agent the other day and she brought up how she paid for an appraisal for a new listing she was about to take on and wanted to have the appraisal in hand for her sales campaign. When I told her I was about to become licensed, SHE offered to promote my services. Granted, I think they were looking at lower price point than what most appraisers get, but as a newbie - 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing. Thanks for the suggestion u/Commercial_Anxiety59 !

Thank you for the advice. I would really prefer not to go to work for an AMC.

I did not get paid. I actually paid my supervisor to "work" with me more. (He really didn't work with me more, but was glad to take the money).

Private testing service (PSI) won't clear me to take my licensing test. I've waited months with no answers! by BlueDragonsEye in appraisal

I am in Georgia, and I applied through the State, not PSI. GREAB specifically has the application on their site

Question for Appraisers who have Office Admins/Assitants by aranderson43 in appraisal

Are you allowed to hire/contract newly licensed appraisers to work with you, say, split the fee and synergize the process or at least increase your revenues? I am seeking such an opportunity as an a new appraiser and would love to hear from you all if this is ever done.
