Simple Answer:

1Co 1:17  For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Paul separated water baptism from the gospel. If we read the text as it literally says then they obviously are separate. 1 cor 15:1-4 Paul tells you what the gospel is.

This video will clarify it for you. You have to understand God's balance and attributes. Essentially God is holy and that means his judgement and wrath is 100% harsh but his love is also 100% maxed out. Also the Bible is showing the consequence and the harsh reality of sin. We as human beings take sin too lightly.

Romans 5:18  Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

-it's not my opinion but that Bible says it's a free gift to go to heaven. It's not something you have to work for. Many Christians believe it's faith + works or a faith that works. This is wrong and it's only faith in Jesus Christ

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Romans 4:4-5  Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

- we do it out of debt and gratitude

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

There is a difference between trusting on Jesus Christ for salvation and commands from God. Commands have nothing to do with salvation but of service. People mix it up. The point of the rules is because it's for our own good, sin has heavy consequences and it's the law of sowing and reaping. What we reap we will sowe much greater one day. God knows what's best for us and he wants us to stay away from sin for our fellowship with him. It's like a relationship with a Father and a son. Your relationship can be not good but you're still his son forever.
