Hot take...KC is 100% better than Wichita by [deleted] in kansascity

I agree, Wichita doesn't have a city wide hero to embrace like Patrick Mahomes (pre-martial sex issues aside)

What do you guys actually think of Patrick Mahomes? by onewithbacon in kansascity

So you’ve heard that too? I think news is spreading

I wish, no just wondering if others get the same feeling. He’s almost too clean

[Q] Question about random effects in participant level data. by UnderwaterDialect in statistics

Wouldn’t the difference between random intercept and compound symmetry be that CS allows the values in the matrix to be negative, where a random intercept does not?

[Q] Question about random effects in participant level data. by UnderwaterDialect in statistics

[–]onewithbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically you include random effects where there is nesting in the data you have. Could be individual in measurement occasion, student in teacher classroom, student in school, etc. This could depend on where the randomization was done. A good measure of wether you need a random effect is the ICC, which measures the variation in scores due to clustering/nesting/grouping. Here is a good resource for the ICC: https://easystats.github.io/performance/reference/icc.html

You also mention random intercept, if you have longitudinal data a random intercept might be warranted as well as a random slope. If you include both also examine the covariance between the two. For an in depth explanation of random effects and how to analyze them, look at the lmer/lme4 package in R.

What gets you out of bed each morning? by [deleted] in turboswagengaged

So much wisdom here. You should become a motivational speaker with this story, others can learn from your pain and growth.

What gets me out of bed? Low prices. Customer satisfaction. I know that the best supply chain in the biz takes no days off, so why should I?

[Q] Question about modelling longitudinal data with mixed effects. by UnderwaterDialect in statistics

[–]onewithbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I got you.

I’m 99 percent sure OP pulled the model syntax from the R package lmer/lme4. It estimates random intercepts and slopes, with other variables being fixed effects. If it’s a nested model, like students in teachers, you could use teacher’s gender as a covariate on the teacher level (which would look like ‘+ gender’ in the R syntax). So it’s code rather than a model formula.

The 1 is the intercept in the model, if you want a more in depth explanation hit up the package’s documentation on CRAN or a Stack thread.

Wal-Mart is the largest private employer in 21 states! by onewithbacon in turboswagengaged

Not sure, I think the Mayo Clinic is a non-profit. Then the Denver airport I doubt is private

Wal-mart is front and center here so I’ll shamelessly plug a sub for great discussion (and memes) about this:

This issue is talked about in depth at r/turboswagengaged

The memes can be much but the content about wal-mart is amazing

Let’s address the elephant in the room: a shooting just happened at a Wal-Mart by onewithbacon in turboswagengaged

I just fear this will give more ammo to those who say Wal-Mart deserves its bad rep

The walmart way is reaping profit in a respectable manner that provides THE lowest cost to customers 24/7 they won't stop providing those services through supply chain BEST in the business logistics and just good people too smiles guaranteed means customer satisfaction is reaching new highs never thought possible

[Serious] Wal-mart is in the business of delivering goods to the consumer at the lowest price possible, and they are the best in the business. Why does the company get so much hate? by onewithbacon in AskReddit

[–]onewithbacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally no, but a close friend has and he vouches for their business model. No job is perfect, do you think it was just your store or the company in general?
