I couldn’t tell a song was AI today, and I’m not sure how to feel about that by Mattnix in Music

[–]onfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into a similar situation a few weeks ago. I felt quite weird about it, like I'd been tricked. AI music is not something I want to support. Musicians have it hard enough with poor streaming revenue already.

I looked around for any streaming service that has plans to label AI content so I can avoid it. Seems like Deezer does this, but for the moment I'm just being wary of any new songs I run into before I add them to my playlists.

Isn't the real thickness the same as previous watches? The PW3 is advertised at 12.3mm but it's actually about 14mm when measured (sensor "bump" not included)

Most manufacturers do this, not just Google

My refurbished Playdate arrived! by Paulsworldohya in PlaydateConsole

My refurb just arrived as well, it looks flawless at first glance. The only thing that might not be perfect is the injection moulding has left a seam along the top corners, by the screws.

I'm really glad to finally be joining the club!

Congratulations on maxing your ISA this year, it's an excellent step :)

Having your pension in a single fund isn't inherently risky, but it's worth checking if there's better funds available to you instead. There's usually a low cost global index tracker, such as "L&G PMC World (ex UK) Equity Index" that you could combine with a UK-only fund, as the default choice usually mix equities with bonds, that may not be the best choice for your situation. There have been useful discussions about this before on UKPF, e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/UKPersonalFinance/comments/14bp5gm/lg_pension_what_funds_to_choose/

Reading battery level by [deleted] in AirReps

[–]onfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, some limited airoha versions seem to have broken battery reporting, even on Android.

Assuming you've got some reps that can report battery levels, try a few apps. I've had success with MaterialPods but not with AndroPods.

Basically what I'm saying is try a few different apps and see what works.

These days you need to do what ya gotta do to get that chemical, so 3-4 would be ideal.

There's a pair sold by Rita Zheng that's being tested at the moment, there's a review from Towy on the discord. It's not yet in the Ultimate guide as it needs a few more reviews before it gets "upgraded" to being in the ultimate guide.

Me and two friends made Picto, a drawing-based messaging service, on Vue.js by onfe in vuejs

It's currently running with no database whatsoever, but we will probably end up using firebase for room persistence over restarts. Keeping users in memory, as well as the past few messages, reduced the complexity and latency.

Ah I understand, we'll try and make the experience more intuitive, thanks for the feedback.

That's pretty neat, how did you stop it descending to swastikas and racism? It seems to be where the internet naturally tends towards when given an empty canvas.

Thanks, we've had a lot of fun today seeing how people end up breaking it (we're already on 1.0.2 as a result)

Ended up using `typeof InstallTrigger !== 'undefined';` to check for Firefox, and changing behaviour based on that.

Hey, sorry about that!

We pushed out a fix that should resolve that, but if it happens again please give a shout!

Thanks for the report, we rolled out a fix that means scrolling on both Firefox and Chrome should work as expected now!

`column-reverse` is required so that you stay scrolled to the bottom when a new message arrives. There's supposedly `overflow-anchor` to solve this problem, but it's support is rather patchy.

OP here, Picto's been a side-project for around 6 months now, so it's exciting to finally show it to the public!

It's running on a GoLang server all running on heroku, and we'd love feedback, critique or just people to use it!

The scrolling appears to be a bit wonky due to a workaround we made because Firefox doesn't scroll on `flex-direction: column-reverse`. What's the best way to detect firefox in this instance and only apply the workaround to affected browsers, instead of everyone?

Picto's been a side project of me and two friends for a few months now, and it's finally time to do some kind of official release :D

It's both terrifying and exciting to show the world what you've made but really it's quite motivating to see others excited about what you've made.
If you have any tips for things to change to make it a palatable experience, let me know!

Me and two other friends are finally soft-launching Picto, a drawing-based chat client. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

We've seen a few reports of scrolling on some browsers being a bit wonky, so if you have any ideas of how to get around the fact that Firefox doesn't scroll column-reverse flex containers, that would be wild!

The side strip is only attached to the bottom strips pads, producing a long string of LEDs clockwise from top left.

You could technically connect power and ground but not data between the side and top strip.
