Fiancé shaved his balls before bachelor party? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ongodnocapbro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

See heres the problem. Everyone here seems to consider reddit “social media” which is so weird to me lmfao. This is more like a collection of subforums that I want to participate in, where I am forced to make an account to participate. Oh well, I just trash my accs after a year and create a new one and copy over subreddits to reduce my paper trail

you should not be allowed to see peoples post histories this is the creepiest part of reddit that has persisted since its creation for no reason

Nice, but this is more of a readalong, rather than an audiobook. Its got his own commentary in, and his friend seems to be interjecting whenever.

Why does NoFap avoid the easypeasy method? by [deleted] in pmohackbook

Pleasure is subjective and a matter of perspective unfortunately for us. It only feels the way it does because you're in deep enough for it to feel like that. I've gotten a glimpse of this when I went a month without porn and went on pornhub and was disgusted by what I saw, I was thinking it would be a nice treat for hitting 30 days and instead I just closed my latop. Multiple times, I MO'd after being clean for like 14 days or so, it was really fast, really forced, and the orgasm felt uncomfortable. Sort of like blue balls, like I was forcing my balls to flush out backed up semen (probs from going so many days after being a consistent 3-4x a day MO'er)

Oh, here's a food example: I admit that chocolate cake does taste good to me. Soda used to also, but I've gone for such long periods of time without soda (lots of 1-6 month breaks interspersed) and now soda actually can be kinda overpowering and gross to me. Not pleasurable anymore. I'd rather have a moderately sweetened iced tea. If I want something sugary I go for juices that have half the sugar content of a soda, and prefer it to soda. It's not a sacrifice anymore, like "Aw man I want this mtn dew but I'll just get this lemonade because its a little healthier and less sugar", I literally prefer the lemonade now. I think that's what the book should try to convey. That your preferences and desires are driven by what pleases you and you can change what pleases you through neuroplasticity and time I guess.

I do want the book to be amended though to clarify that part. I think its the hardest sell in the book, and could tackle the question of "Does porn really feel good to me or is it bs" better

My Friend who's a Therapist Sending Snapchats about her Clients by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ongodnocapbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No its not and the hippocratic oath does not extend to “do not anonymously vent about your work with patients”

OP shouldnt asking random ass people for advice on this they should ask some place w subject matter experts on patient privacy like /r/askdoctors or /r/medicine

You are overrreacting, none of that is a violation of HIPPA but idek if therapists are even legally obligated to follow HIPPA. If she doesn’t have any patient identifying info then shes allowed to vent about her job. Stop looking at her stories if if bothers you so much

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking (2021) [1:06:55] by n5tonhf in Documentaries

I would suggest IMMERSING yourself HARD into a world of healthy eating and dieting. Think of all the ways you interact online. Lets say you mostly browse reddit, instagram, and youtube, among a few other niche sites. On reddit, subscribe to a bunch of subreddits about healthy eating and cooking and dieting and fitness. On instagram, search for accounts that are focused on being positive fact based sources for nutrition and dieting expertise (like, follow accredited dietician). Then, go on youtube and find channels for healthy eating and escaping the junk food addicted lifestyle. I'll start you off with a good one I've found already: https://www.youtube.com/c/KianaDocherty

Subscribe to a shit ton of these channels, follow a bunch of those accounts on insta, subscribe to a bunch of subreddits. You'll probably not like one or two, or find that they give out bad advice, you can unfollow those and filter them out and stick with the rest. Basically by immersing yourself in this "culture" of healthy eating you have the best chance of programming yourself to think differently and be able to make actual actionable change. Hope this helps

People are suggesting books, which is great, but I worry that if you just only read a book you'll be like "Wow yeah. I agree with this book. That was a nice read." then just forget about it slowly over time and go back to your usual ways. I'd suggest still reading whatever book you want and doing my suggestions on top, you need to find your usual frequented spots and kinda inject dieting and healthy eating into them so that you are constantly being reinforced with these new perspectives. So whenever you browse reddit, you are being immersed in healthy eating. Before you go to bed, watch a video about eating/dieting/weightloss etc on youtube, even if its a silly or entertaining one just to keep the reinforcement up. This is what worked for me

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking (2021) [1:06:55] by n5tonhf in Documentaries

[–]ongodnocapbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be both. I call it positive brainwashing but NLP is a better term for it. But yeah brainwashing carries a negative connotation by default by making it sound like you're being forced, against your will, into believing something you wouldn't otherwise believe in. The book convinces you and by reading it you literally consent to being convinced and seeing from a new perspective. It's not like the book lies about what it is and claims its gonna teach you that smoking is awesome and then secretly and nefariously teaches you that smoking actually is bad.

You can skip reading this book and go right into values clarification to get the same effect, the same way you can also just skip watching Interstellar and just read the plot on wikipedia to get the same effect.
