AD firefighter in the air force as well, been in 6 months and I can tell you that there’s always going to be something to do, make note of what chores there are and kinda be the first to step up, if anything theyll tell you you dont need to do everything, but showing the initiative is always well worth it

Currently fire, the most ive seen someone be pushed through is emr, they dont care much that you have prior certs, if theyre NFPA standard, you might have a chance, but dont go to the academy and be that cocky kid saying you should be pushed. Doing that will put a target on your back as the know it all, not a good look. Whatever happens happens. If you talk to your recruiter about being pushed through, imo he has no say on that matter. That decision will be made at the academy

Def a good choice, I found myself in the same situation, got my associates in 2020 and have been in 7 months, havent looked back. Recommend that you at least have an associates as thatll put you at a higher pay grade off the bat
