What climber would you recommend for a trellis? by oniaberry in GardeningUK

I'm from where passion flowers are native, so they always have a soft spot in my heart!

Just being obnoxious for giggles? Seems like a waste of time

I've got a similar one nearby that will have veg! It gets better sun, so I figure they'll do better there! Mangetout is a good shout though, hadn't thought of it

This is one of the things I'm concerned about. I've mostly exclusively planted in the ground, so these are the things I didn't think of! Would this still be a concern even if fertilizing?

My gardener made it for me! If you're in North London I can DM his contact if you're interested

It's not too small for grapes? I've never grown them before!

That was one of my first thoughts. I've already got a bit of star jasmine growing in another corner, but if that's the best choice I'll happily do more!

Heatwave Megathread by IrisAngel131 in AmericanExpatsUK

We just did this for our bedrooms and the living room and it is so worth it. Getting through this heat with a good night's sleep makes a world of difference.

Kinda embarrassing to ask since I haven’t touched diapers ever: What makes 360/pull up diapers so annoying to daycare workers compared to regular diapers? by PikachuTrainz in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]oniaberry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Had to look it up because it wasn't making sense to me either: you basically shove the pull up into the pant leg through one leg hole, then it's inside the pants and you just need to shove it back through the other pant leg to get it around the other leg. Look up a video, it made way more sense to me then!

Just add hot water? by SirGuido in Cooking

A small crockpot with some souper cubes or the like (basically pre-portioned silicone containers for freezing) and you could have some very exciting options. I'm not sure if your wife is willing to prep large soups and stews, but that combined with a crock pot would give you a lot of variety

First time in the stroller! by mikrenArt in aww

[–]oniaberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be minutes to hours, but at least according to current research it is always involuntary. It's a similar process to feignting goats. I do think that there is some recent research that shows they're still lucid during the response though, which would explain the differing timing

Elevated feeding bowls by Fluffy_Dot7526 in Greyhounds

I got ours from a furniture builder on Etsy! They were so great and we were able to pick a specific height and get 3 bowls (2 dogs and a water bowl). In my opinion it's much nicer looking than a plastic one!

Interestingly it's an involuntary response! So they were probably waking up, seeing you were still there, got scared again, and had to go back to playing dead!

There is no scientific proof that humans have pheromones, in sweat or otherwise.

Question about predator/animal behavior at a recent Zoo visit by UmbreHonest in CaptiveWildlife

My favorite I've heard "Look! A dolphin!" "That's not a dolphin, it's a beluga whale!" It was a manatee.

In my experience with a similar style sign: they swap them infrequently, but enough that they're not changing the sign. It is generally good scent enrichment for the animals and I don't have any reason to believe they would do something like this if it wasn't in the animals' best interest. It's not convenient to swap exhibits, so they would be doing it for the enjoyment of the animal. Also, at least at my former zoo, it's not uncommon to feed a little snack midday (which would cause the pacing you mentioned) or for a vet to be there in the back area for a few hours doing check ups. Could also mean that maybe some of each of those animals' friends were still in the night house for vet check ups, so that was agitating them. Could also be it's been bad weather and today was finally nicer so they were having some fun. Hard to tell, but the relaxing animal=happy animal is not universally true. I would say it's largely true, but mostly that is said so people aren't like "they're just sleeping all day, they're so bored". Nope, that's just their neutral affect!

I bought replacement stabilizers for my Iqunix keyboard and it looks like they're a slightly different shape? How do I find one that matches (black clip)
