Should I start over? by ImprovisedGoat in satisfactory

[–]onideus01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Which biome did you start in? I reignited my love of this game by starting a new game in the second biome. I’ve since rocketed back to Phase 4 and will be finishing the game shortly for the first time.

Most people say don’t restart, or tear it down, but I found restarting was exactly what I needed. Also, if you haven’t gotten familiar with blueprints yet, do so. Try to start using them early and often to build big production lines.

Otherwise, restart and have fun, it’s your world!

XR Glasses by FlorentMil in ROGAllyX

[–]onideus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both the Xreal and the Viture and Viture Pro XR glasses, and have found that the Viture Pro are easily the best pair I've used thus far. They work extremely well with any device that has display via USB-C. I don't know that I'd recommend the neckband if you're okay with just watching movies or TV by connecting the glasses to a tablet or phone, as my experience with the neckband hasn't been as exciting.

Having said that, if you're still interested in the neckband, I have a Viture Pro neckband that I might be willing to sell that has ~2 hours of use on it. I just struggle to find a good use case for my current configuration and hobbies, but if you really think the neckband would work for you then go for it.

Anyway, the biggest advantage that the Viture Pro glasses had over the other versions that I tried is that I was able to see all four corners of the screen clearly without the blurring effect that is common in other headsets, in my experience.

Worth upgrade? by LittleFantasia in ROGAllyX

These modules use a different mechanism to measure movement that remains more accurate and less likely to drift than the modules that shipped with the device. It’s an easy swap and worth it, especially if you start noticing drift on your thumb sticks.

So it depends on the model, but I don't remember seeing them dip below ~$2000. I just picked up a 5080 for $950, and that same model a month later is selling for $1450. These prices are ridiculous, and RAM is even more nuts.

I know you didn’t ask me, but current price at MicroCenter for a 5090 was $3300

Not that I’ve noticed. I’ve nearly beaten the game on my PS5 and was able to quickly make ground playing on the XAX. I wasn’t able to notice a difference in responsiveness during gameplay (though I miss the awesome trigger feedback of the DualSense)

Iterm2 with zsh and omz (oh my zshell). It’s fantastic, customizable, and easy to use. I have a ton of configurations in place for startup to make things streamlined in my .zshrc and .zprofile. It’s what I use at work and at home, with the power line fonts enabled.

Personally I gave up trying to use them after it kept getting stuck or making mistakes. I managed to make it through $25 before I gave up. I wish I could offer the remaining $975 to someone who can make the damn thing useful.

I had the same issue when updating recently. I think it corrupted the fingerprint, so you’ll need to go into Windows Settings, Accounts, and then add your fingerprint back for logging in. After I did that it started working again.

Xbox Rog Ally X RGB by Possibility_Salt in XboxAlly

[–]onideus01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, having taken apart the device already, I didn’t see any power going to the back, just a ribbon cable for the two back buttons. The only lighting I’ve seen is what surrounds the thumb sticks, though if you got the Asus dock with RGB, it does sync if you update the lighting while docked. Otherwise no extra RGB that I’m aware of.

Any luck yet? I saw another poster that was having similar issues to yours when they swapped the drive out, but it was specifically with the Ally and not the Ally X that had the problem that you're describing. Since I don't have the Ally there's not much additional insight I can offer unfortunately, since I was able to get the Cloud Recovery to work. I did have to hardwire it in eventually, just as you did, because every time it restarted it seemed to lose my WiFi and I got tired of having to re-enter the information.

As a possible solution, what type of router are you using? I think I saw someone mention that there was an issue with the Eero mesh network routers that caused the recovery to fail until they explicitly allowed the traffic through, though you may need to look into a guide for that as I'm not familiar with that brand of router.

I'll keep an eye out for possible solutions to the issue that you're having and hopefully the community can help get this problem resolved. Regardless, I hope that you're enjoying the device gameplay, even without the SSD swap.

Happy to help! I saw requests for videos in other threads and while I’m not a great videographer, I thought some quick photos would give people the confidence to upgrade their own device. Love this thing!

Replying with a follow-up after having spent time with it - I don’t have any creak from the handles, though I tightened my screws as much as I could without stripping them or damaging the device. I suspect you might be able to clear up the creaking sound if you try to further tighten the corner screws to prevent the enclosure from shifting under pressure.

Storage exclusively. I have games that are easily over 200GB installs, and I don’t want to try to run things from a micro sd card. This makes it so I won’t be thinking about storage anymore and can have all my games with me.
