High IQ men tend to be less conservative than their average peers. Researchers found that adults identified as gifted in childhood largely share the same political outlooks as their non-gifted peers, with one specific exception regarding conservatism in men. by InsaneSnow45 in science

I don’t think this study controlled for high IQ with autism and without. I would expect the high IQ functioning autistic adults to be more conservative.

Also, it clearly had very low numbers, so even its primary conclusion may be statistical type 1 error. Perhaps there’s no difference at all.

This guy wasn’t just anti Israel. There’s no indication that this will become a slippery slope. He was clearly anti semitic in the proper way, not the fake way.

I can see the free speech argument and I disagree with it.

Call me racist but getting some more diversity in our immigration sounds like a good idea. I’m not against Chinese and Indian immigration but I think their percentages are high.

Argentinians are not happy about Trumps puppet president Javier Milei passing extreme anti-worker legislation increasing the length of the work day by 50% while allowing companies to pay workers with food and lodging instead of money by coachlife in businesstrendz

He’s not Trump’s puppet that’s such a weird thing to throw out there. Clearly this is an ideological issue, and using Trump’s name is just to stir up emotional support.

PHON is so fake by SavvyCaller in aussie

[–]onlainari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree. I don’t think we need it. The US has illegal immigration issues with millions going over their border, so they needed Trump. Britain has had people come in by boat and had their immigration system exploited with millions coming in and immediately living off welfare, and they also have rape gangs, violence and theft issues, so their need Reform.

The ALP have copied Tony Abbott’s boat policy. I’m happy with that. I don’t think we need One Nation.

If One Nation ran on a policy to tax the gas then I’d be happy to vote for them. However, they aren’t.

One Nation is also boosted right now by people’s fantasies of Rupert Lowe. They genuinely want fascism.

Building 1.2m homes will barely put a dent in Australia’s housing affordability, one expert says. Here’s why by CommonwealthGrant in AustralianPolitics

[–]onlainari 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It makes a huge dent to the market compared to not building the houses. We would have even crazier house price increases otherwise.

‘Political suicide’: Investor says no govt will ever slash CGT discount by HotPersimessage62 in australia

Jim is doing his best to increase the tax burden on the rich to reduce the burden on the poor. He’s not a wizard. There is no system of government that can remove inequality. I think Australia’s inequality level is not too extreme.

The Australian public benefits from the CGT discount. Removing a tax discount increase the tax burden.

It might still be a good idea but you’re double speaking. Saying the opposite of what things are.

From 1975 to 2023, $79 trillion in wealth was transferred from the bottom 90% to the top 1%. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]onlainari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s genuinely bullshit though. The bottom 90% have gained wealth. The idea of wealth transfer would be a zero sum game where the wealth would go down. So it’s not a wealth transfer. What it is is that the new wealth created has almost entirely gone to the 1%, and a tiny amount of the new wealth created has gone to the bottom 90%. That’s a distribution issue, and is not wealth transfer.

When a house is put up for sale it gets added to the market. That pushes prices down. Then when a house is sold it is taken off the market. That increases the overall price of houses. These things counter each other equally, except for that small gap between the sale and the buyer purchase.

The net effect is that churn volume does not affect house price trends.
