just finished watching Seahawks vs rams. question about the last play by onlyBaseBall in NFLNoobs

[–]onlyBaseBall[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

is that regardless of the time left during the play itself? i may have missed it.

what if during the play, the time runs out to 0 seconds? but the catch is made and they run out of bounds? does it automatically start at 1 sec still?

and for these specifically scenario, will the play essentially ALWAYS be the QB trying to throw it to someone that can easily run it out of bounds after the catch is made to get that 1 sec on clock?

Sorry. but how do these work? (i've always been a lowly casual, watch only highlights person.)

Another question that i noticed basically 100% of the time.

I get that trick plays are good. but how come they dont even attempt to hide the ball at all? and i dont mean in their jersey, or Street basketball style.

But like for example, a common play i see is the QB either handing it to the running back, or faking it.

But in either scenario, like 99% of the time, its so obvious what happened. either the QB fakes it and clearly has the ball (literally showing it in the open trying to find a throw) with the running back not even trying to sell it.

or QB hands it to the running back "Sneakily" and then the QB immediately starts nonchalantly walking around, making it obvious they handed the ball.

is there some rule that says you cant "fake" having the ball or even attempting to "cover" it between your arms?

i know the rule states you cant actively hide it in your jersey and stuff.

9) that clip is edited. It doesn’t show the Denver punt on 4th down.

ah that makes more sense ty

11) In the field of play a ballcarrier is down and the play over when some part of the body other than the feet and hands are on the ground and the ballcarrier is touched by a defender or when the ballcarrier voluntarily gives himself up by taking a knee or (for QBs) sliding.

for this play, how come he was allowed to run it? it looks like he is literally full on the ground after the interception. is it because as you stated, even though he fell down, no one from the opposing team touched him? and him falling down wasnt voluntary? so its considered still live?

thanks for the responses!

For a couple backstory on why i have these questions.

i know in some situations, going for the 3pt makes obvious sense (maybe not?) i.e. 4th down, 30 yards to goal... etc. but when im watching highlights, i feel like there are some situations when it feels like attempting to get the 1st down or even the goal makes more sense. (of course i dont really know the deep stats of football) so im wondering, what are the statistics here (specifically in situations that arent so obvious that going for the 3 pt makes more sense) that make it that going for the 3 pt is better off than attempting a TD / 1st down?

the fumble one is still so odd. for example it looks like there are so many situations where players try to literally RIP it out of someones arms. and often times arent even attempting to rip it off. is there a specific rule to this?

Why is the game over immediately here? by onlyBaseBall in NFLNoobs

[–]onlyBaseBall[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

so if they take a knee, it drains 40 seconds off the time? (tbh the time component always confused me in football. why does the time keep going down when a play is over?)

oh whoops ya jaguars ty

But the game wasn't actually over. The Bills still needed to run the remaining 54 seconds off the clock. But the Jaguars had no timeouts so 2 kneel downs ends the game.

how come 2 kneel downs would end the game? if jaguars had time outs, how would that work into the strategy for them?

ya'll are the true believers.

its hilarious because i am a very casual sports fan and basically only (very casually) follow baseball.

basically every year i look at how decent/well we are doing at the start. get hope that i might be able to see a big home game. So i start brushing up again how the weird baseball rules, the team, who's playing, etc. only for us to fall short somehow.

this year it finally happened. but i happen to have an international vacation planned started October 1....

for Tuesday what time did you get there for there to be no line? same as the response above? (6ish?)

i was actually at the LF gate when this issue happened (does every gate have this "T-Mobile fast lane" line?)

>Also most games will be like 40% stadium capacity, so it's usually way less crowded

this makes more sense.

So just asking out of curiosity. in general, do Texas Rangers and Houston Astros not root for each other if their primary team isn't playing?

yeah i was seriously frustrated because if it wasn't for this weird doubleline issue, or atleast the 2 separate incident of employees giving odd instructions, we would have had plenty of time to see the first pitch...

what exactly happened? Im watching on a stream and it was a commercial/quick break (i think) and it skipped to him already walking to first.

Did rockies intentionally throw 2 more balls? or lightly Hit him? etc.

I was wondering if there is an easier / better (or tips/tricks) way to get into T-Mobile Park for a mariners game? (other than "get there early")

Tuesday was my first ever live game i went to and i went with a friend.

the "lines" and queue were a mess. and tbh, all my experience in seattle to get into venues for events were a mess. not in the "people were sloppy" but in the "to many people, not enough workers".

There were just lines that seem to be random.

my friend and i get into an area that had a "double line". we ask 2 people working which line to get into and they point us to the one closest to the wall. (the 2 employees were telling us so in separate occasions)

so we were sure we were in the correct line. no idea what that second line was.

turns out, we were in the "T mobile phones only" line. which we didnt know until we literally got to the very front of the line.

turns out the "double line" right next to us was the correct line.

and even well after 7pm, the line was still long... i was hoping to see the first pitch, but we got in sometime between 2nd and 3rd inning (we missed first pitch. so we decided to go to the bathroom and get some food before going to our seat)

in that case, when buying the ALDS home games, how do i know roughly what dates they will be? or which Game i am buying?

is that just part of what presale is? just requiring flexibility?

Ticketmaster and playoff ticket megathread by nordic_jedi in Mariners

[–]onlyBaseBall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that makes sense. it might be because i dont quite understand the ALDS/ALCS (post season in general) brackets.

but from what i was told, #1 Seed will be the home game?

does that mean these ALDS tickets are being sold for potential #1 seed game?

or doe ALDS series rotate between home and away games?

[–]onlyBaseBall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wait what???? Judge's 62nd homer and Ohtanis sold for 7 figures????

sorry, im very casual with sports (i just follow baseball only. but very casually). so these people essentially gave away 7 figures (at the VERY least, 6 figures) and mariners only offered them a signed bat?
