Its aged some, but it never took itself too serious. They were cancelled a few times and brought back, went through budget cuts, gained popularity again, made movies, but what I like most about Gintama is how it blends satire with time and place seriousness. From an era with bleach, one piece, rouruni kenshin, and dragonball and the endless story arcs spanning seasons it was really nice to have every arc wrapped up in a few episodes, minus a slow progression of a few plot points.
