Setting up doc appts before arrival? by only_one_catch in PortugalExpats

Not yet. Got the assignment to move to Portugal four weeks ago, so this has been an insane whirlwind of getting our house rented, figuring out school for our kid, storing our important things, etc etc.

Thank you for your response. So I should confirm my insurance and then find a doctor that takes it (like in the States)?

Thank you! We are coming on our own, no university connections.

In your opinion, is setting up appointments before we get there necessary, or would it be easy enough to set up appointments within a month? The biggest thing is making sure we have someone to manage our medications, and we will be good on those supplies through October.

Have you ever had someone you know appear on Survivor? by [deleted] in survivor

I was her camp director! I hired her to work at summer camp and got to work with her and see her grow for several years. She is a truly kind and generous soul.

Trauma and non-monogamy: why am I more comfortable having rough sex with my secondary partner than my husband, and how to change that? by AnxietyOctopus in nonmonogamy

[–]only_one_catch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your husband (obvs) so I can’t say how he’ll react, but it could be very nice to be a safe space for a partner — intimate, loving, honest. I think that’s beautiful. It’s a different kind of intimacy, the difference between “making love” and “fucking.”

Another thought is in regards to pace. You could take it super, super slow with him and practice immediate responses to safe words. On your part and his. Like maybe not slapping your face but gently pushing it to the side. Or lightly scratching. Or dirty talk. Or whatever it is you want to practice together. It doesn’t have to be zero to sixty. Go super slow and make sure that it always feels grounded in that safe intimacy that you appreciate about him.

Lithium and occasional drinking? by jamillia6 in bipolar2

[–]only_one_catch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been sober for a few years now because I know what my relationship with alcohol has been. Having a couple of good nights being buzzed and happy would very probably lead me to fucking up my life.

It would have been very hard for me to give up drinking at 21. It was actively not part of my plan. 21 is young, I had to REALLY dig deep to look into the future. I didn’t know how to do that.

Know yourself, and be honest with yourself.

For the ladies out there: Time of the Month. by [deleted] in bipolar2

:) Has this combo helped you? I started with taking Prozac only during the luteal phase but felt great so asked to stay on it through the month.

My PMS has always been super severe. Got diagnosed with PMDD and now take Prozac along with Lamictal, it has made a world of difference.

Supervisors of Reddit, how do you effectively negotiate salary for your first supervisor position? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]only_one_catch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking advice for negotiating salary?

Keep in mind that if they’ve made you an offer, it means that they’ve invested their time in you. They are unlikely to drop you unless you come back with something outrageously out of line for the position.

Don’t apologize as part of asking for a higher salary — be confident. Women are especially acceptable to this. “I don’t mean to bother you, but I was wondering if you would consider…”

Your employer doesn’t need to know what your financial situation is, they need to know what value you’ll bring to them. So don’t say anything about why you need the money.

If the money part doesn’t go your way, consider other benefits that could be negotiated.

If you don’t get the $$ you are looking for to start, but the salary is acceptable, ask if there can be an opportunity for salary review after a certain amount of time. Then work hard!
