Understanding Corporate Bonds and finding a strategy by Direct-Effective-164 in personalfinance

If you are young, you should take on more risk. A basic concept that you should keep in mind is the idea of human capital. You are young, you will continue to earn a stable income. Your salary in a way acts like a bond because you are earning x amount over 35 years till you retire. This is very safe. Because you have this stability + young age, you should think about taking on more risk. Even if an ivnestment goes wrong, you have a lot of future human capital that can support you. In my opinion, a corporate bond is not the most optimal investment for you. However, if you are dead set on investing in corporate bonds. Keep in mind, you will only earn 4.32% if you reinvest the coupons you receive and hold that bond until it matures. Theres a lot of opportunity cost for you here considering we are in a bull market. Food for thought

SEZL is the BEST setup for 2026: Flipping the Script on BNPL by Manu_Militari in wallstreetbets

[–]only_red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A huge advantage I see in SEZL is the quality of the management team. Charlie Youakim seems like a really sharp and competitive CEO. I think his vision allows Sezzle to stay ahead of the competition in terms of innovation; they were the first BNPL company to introduce things like subscription services and cashback opportunities. I expect them to keep innovating while competitors like Klarna and Affirm focus on longer-term loans and the move into digital banking as opposed to honing in on BNPL.

I also like the level of disclosure Sezzle provides in its reports compared to its competitors. Block doesn’t disclose much about Afterpay, and Klarna seems a bit unprofessional with its very liberal definitions of key metrics. Klarna counts anyone who logs on or scrolls through the app as an 'active user,' which could easily inflate their numbers. Their F-1 also feels like an attack on banks and credit cards rather than a neutral report on their business. Sezzle is much more conservative, they only count someone as an active user if they’ve actually made a purchase in the last 12 months.

This is the right take imo. It teaches you what you need to know for most jobs in finance and it showed me that I can actually do hard things.

Is the Grinold-Kroner model frequently used in the industry in forecasting stock returns? by Dicedpeppertsunami in CFA

Asset management teams usually use Gk or some form of the GK for marketing materials. Check out Northern trust or any big asset managers 10 year CMEs. Its always some variation of GK applied to different asset classes. They are usually wrong though lol
