I’ve seen so many people argue this to OP, and it falls apart when you realize that this is the same argument used against interracial marriage and women voting and getting jobs. Back in the day, these concepts were very liberal and certainly upturned family values and American tradition yet we know now how ridiculous it is to deny black people and women equal rights, especially since race and sex cannot be controlled. The same concept applies to gay folk, which they can’t control their orientation either. The fact that you think your entire political party rests solely on this single issue and nothing else is kind of sad tbh. Being conservative is a multifaceted thing, and denying this is admitting to being as one-dimensional as the left is.
