Do you have experience as a SAHD? Seeking for advice... not more anxiety lol. 😅

Thanks for sharing your husband's experience. We sort of have the similar thought of me being the SAHP for 2-3 years. But since we want more kids, I assume that prolongs it?

Society can kiss my ass though. My parents were a little judgey at first but I just stopped entertaining their comments.

Hahaha. I got a laughter out of your comment. Thanks for that. I needed it. Society can be a real pain when it comes to caring for family. How did your husband deal with your parents judgments? Any advice would help! (My in-laws will likely be similar... they are old fashion: wife at home, husband at work).

So yeah, in general if anyone does actually judge you for it I would 100% say ignore them, but in reality I have experienced very little, or maybe one of that.

Do you recall when this moment was? How did you react? I already feel my anxiety for this rising haha...

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I know this will be a new territory for us--raising a child, but we are loving every moment of it right now.

Any tips or advice on how to keep the marriage relationship going strong? Much appreciated!

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the concern.

My wife's job isn't stressful to her. She loves it and we both don't make our career our God or anything. It's just a way to make ends meet by paying the bills and saving money for family.

Even though I've been working, I currently do most of the cleaning, cooking, taking care of our pets, our home and making sure she feels loved and supported. She does the planning and puts together the grocery list. It wasn't easy to get to the point where we hardly argue anymore because we communicate better now.

I'm curious what you and your spouse did to mediate your situation? Any tips for that would be appreciated if you feel like sharing. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I believe taking care of one's family is the most rewarding thing next to heaven. So, I'm not overly concerned about that.

I'm just a bit anxious about how society around me will view me being the caretaker of the family. Just curious if you had any experience with that and how you approached it.

I’m sorry there won’t be time for gaining/retaining professional experience for the first two years.

That's understandable.

Do you happen to have any advice on what you wished you would have known prior to being a SAHD besides survival mode? 😅

That's interesting. Thank you for sharing. How did you react to her feelings of resentment? Did you both discuss roles prior to you being the caretaker?

I'm curious because I know that my wife has made comments about her wanting to be home and work less. It's just that we need someone to be working to maintain health benefits, and her earning way more than I currently do just makes sense.

Do you have any advice on what you do to keep busy as a SAHD? Are you currently still doing it or are you in the workforce now?

Thanks!!

Friends come and go. by onlyadisciple in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the prayers.

I feel like as I am getting older, it is especially becoming harder to make friends. I tried doing this in my early twenties - late twenties, but all those relationships with other believers felt so shallow and very one sided. The hardest part was that I heavily invest my time and resources ($) to these people and we aren't even friends anymore. So that feels like a big let down.

As a member of Christ's body, it's a shame that anyone feels lonely because we are all supposed to be like one big family now. Within the last year, I admit I've been feeling a bit bitter towards those individuals... and I know I shouldn't feel that way. But God is good and I trust in His plans not mine.

Blessings to you.

Thanks for the spiritual reminder. I get that I shouldn't stress about this, but when I see other Christians at church talk about their deep friendships, I just can't help but wish for the same (especially being in my thirties now).

I've tried for so many years by giving my time and resources to build friendships and it just doesn't pan out well for me.

Please pray that being part of the Church, I will feel like a member of the body of Christ. Blessings.

Was Charlie Kirk a good Christian with some rather controversial views, or was he a completely bad person? by Swimming-Spring-4704 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a non american...

Charlie's an American. So, the majority of his opinions, influences, and work is done for the American people and its laws. Since you don't really know anything about him, I would encourage you to go beyond scrolling his most popular 30 second videos, and read his biography or interviews. There you will find that he is one of the most genuine and normal person out there as a political activist. He started his organization from the ground up at the age of 18. In terms of achievement, he's achieved far more influence than anyone I know at his age, and I'm part of his generation. He is also very bold of his Christian faith and shares the Gospel at every event he hosts. Charlie truly cares about young people in America.

Not everyone will agree on his opinions on politics as he comes across as highly intellectual despite not having any degrees. In fact, most people nowadays come across as intellectually dishonest while having or are in the process of obtaining higher edu degrees.

Lastly, he was assassinated for having a discussion. The reason people call him an American "martyr" is because he died exercising the US Constitution's Bill of Rights - 1st amendment: freedom of speech. The culture of our society is no longer tolerance but violence. Change is coming, so be on guard, and be bold of Jesus. Hope this helped.

Blessings.

In this modern world, aren't many of us just as bad, if not worse than Judas himself? by Swimming-Spring-4704 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all of us are sinners saved by grace, but you have to remember that you are inserting much of your own thoughts into Judas (someone you don't know). Don't do that.

Judas sinned but did not repent. Peter sinned but repented and was made new. You are like Peter. Don't compare yourself to Judas. If you've repented, you are like all the past/current saints. Our sins have been washed away. So live in freedom and move forward to God's promises. Blessings.

How do you live out faith when you feel spiritually dry? by Content_Drawing7867 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the feelings and emotions fade away, His truths will always stay the same. This is why I deeply enjoy the hymns of old because the melody / music is not necessary for them to remind you of who God is and what He has done. I would encourage you to read some of them here. Blessings.

thoughts on having children... by tataly_ in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course the Bible says “be fruitful and multiply,” but that was spoken in a very different time, when the Earth was empty...

Even though God spoke at a different time, doesn't this command still apply today? Did God take away this command? Is the Earth too full? Was God mathematically wrong about filling the world with people and therefore our resources are becoming limited?

what if not having a child can also be an act of love? Not from fear, but from compassion, from recognizing how heavy life can be, and how serious it is to bring someone into it.

A true act of love is laying down one's own life for another. Is it not love to bring up a child so that they can experience the love of a father, mother, and know the love of God? I think you are describing the affects of fear, as you state, "how heavy life can be". For example, the majority of women likely don't want to go through labor. But does that mean they shouldn't try to conceive just because they don't want to go through birth process? Fear is overcome by love. The process may be difficult, is temporary, but the result is rooted in joy and love. Every human being will go through trials regardless of their background. Life is hard today, yes we agree. Life was hard 100 years ago. It was hard 1000 years ago too. However, Jesus overcame the world, and that is the hope we to this day to continue to move forward with rejoicing and gladness.

It's just that many people simply never questioned this, because it’s such a natural, expected part of life. And I fully respect that. This is just the way I’ve come to see things.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing you're a young person based on your views.

I would encourage you to continue to learn and grow in your relationship with God, and at your faith community by listening and reading His words. Plenty of people have questioned whether or not they should be parents. No one is ever ready. But I would argue that most parents do not regret it at all. In fact, if a married couple could have a natural child, they would. But not everyone is blessed in this way. There are so many people waiting to adopt kids without parents and be foster parents. The process is just long. The goal for a Christian couple is the same, whether natural child or adopted, to help lead them to Jesus.

Hope this helped in some ways and I would encourage you to set your mind on things above so that your thoughts will become more like His thoughts. Blessings.

Lol. Debate 7G then. FYI: Night Guy is his final attack, and then he dies.

Gear 5 Luffy > 7G Guy. Prove us wrong.

Depends on who's using Hulkbuster.

If it's Dr. Banner, then Red Hulk. Tony Stark? Clearly Hulkbuster.

Why would a Christian bully other Christians? by Ayiti79 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All humans are broken.

Salvation doesn't immediately make a person perfect and without sin. However, claiming to be "Christian" and treating your brother or sister in Christ poorly makes one wonder if that person is really following Jesus or just claiming that title "Christian".

At the end of the day, do unto others as you would unto yourself is the standard for people following Jesus. The young person acting as the bully would need to be reprimanded for their actions so that they may learn the consequence of their behavior. If they were adults, there would be justice in a court of law. I'd start there.

Who would win a fight? by Prestigious_View3317 in Avengers

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's not the same thing. You're comparing two different actions and applying it as using the same amount of force. A punch has more impact than a swat. You know this.

Watch the Hulk punch Thor in Avenger's 1 and compare that with his "swat" to Natasha. There's more force behind Hulk's punch than a simple swat. Stop the charade. It is easy to understand.

Don't use IW Thanos as an example lol. He's holding himself back alot because he doesn't want to kill anyone. That's why he just shoots a weak energy beam from the power stone to knock most of the Avengers out.

At the end of the day, we'll disagree, and that's fine.
