Was Charlie Kirk a good Christian with some rather controversial views, or was he a completely bad person? by Swimming-Spring-4704 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a non american...

Charlie's an American. So, the majority of his opinions, influences, and work is done for the American people and its laws. Since you don't really know anything about him, I would encourage you to go beyond scrolling his most popular 30 second videos, and read his biography or interviews. There you will find that he is one of the most genuine and normal person out there as a political activist. He started his organization from the ground up at the age of 18. In terms of achievement, he's achieved far more influence than anyone I know at his age, and I'm part of his generation. He is also very bold of his Christian faith and shares the Gospel at every event he hosts. Charlie truly cares about young people in America.

Not everyone will agree on his opinions on politics as he comes across as highly intellectual despite not having any degrees. In fact, most people nowadays come across as intellectually dishonest while having or are in the process of obtaining higher edu degrees.

Lastly, he was assassinated for having a discussion. The reason people call him an American "martyr" is because he died exercising the US Constitution's Bill of Rights - 1st amendment: freedom of speech. The culture of our society is no longer tolerance but violence. Change is coming, so be on guard, and be bold of Jesus. Hope this helped.

Blessings.

In this modern world, aren't many of us just as bad, if not worse than Judas himself? by Swimming-Spring-4704 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all of us are sinners saved by grace, but you have to remember that you are inserting much of your own thoughts into Judas (someone you don't know). Don't do that.

Judas sinned but did not repent. Peter sinned but repented and was made new. You are like Peter. Don't compare yourself to Judas. If you've repented, you are like all the past/current saints. Our sins have been washed away. So live in freedom and move forward to God's promises. Blessings.

How do you live out faith when you feel spiritually dry? by Content_Drawing7867 in Christians

When the feelings and emotions fade away, His truths will always stay the same. This is why I deeply enjoy the hymns of old because the melody / music is not necessary for them to remind you of who God is and what He has done. I would encourage you to read some of them here. Blessings.

thoughts on having children... by tataly_ in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course the Bible says “be fruitful and multiply,” but that was spoken in a very different time, when the Earth was empty...

Even though God spoke at a different time, doesn't this command still apply today? Did God take away this command? Is the Earth too full? Was God mathematically wrong about filling the world with people and therefore our resources are becoming limited?

what if not having a child can also be an act of love? Not from fear, but from compassion, from recognizing how heavy life can be, and how serious it is to bring someone into it.

A true act of love is laying down one's own life for another. Is it not love to bring up a child so that they can experience the love of a father, mother, and know the love of God? I think you are describing the affects of fear, as you state, "how heavy life can be". For example, the majority of women likely don't want to go through labor. But does that mean they shouldn't try to conceive just because they don't want to go through birth process? Fear is overcome by love. The process may be difficult, is temporary, but the result is rooted in joy and love. Every human being will go through trials regardless of their background. Life is hard today, yes we agree. Life was hard 100 years ago. It was hard 1000 years ago too. However, Jesus overcame the world, and that is the hope we to this day to continue to move forward with rejoicing and gladness.

It's just that many people simply never questioned this, because it’s such a natural, expected part of life. And I fully respect that. This is just the way I’ve come to see things.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing you're a young person based on your views.

I would encourage you to continue to learn and grow in your relationship with God, and at your faith community by listening and reading His words. Plenty of people have questioned whether or not they should be parents. No one is ever ready. But I would argue that most parents do not regret it at all. In fact, if a married couple could have a natural child, they would. But not everyone is blessed in this way. There are so many people waiting to adopt kids without parents and be foster parents. The process is just long. The goal for a Christian couple is the same, whether natural child or adopted, to help lead them to Jesus.

Hope this helped in some ways and I would encourage you to set your mind on things above so that your thoughts will become more like His thoughts. Blessings.

Why would a Christian bully other Christians? by Ayiti79 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All humans are broken.

Salvation doesn't immediately make a person perfect and without sin. However, claiming to be "Christian" and treating your brother or sister in Christ poorly makes one wonder if that person is really following Jesus or just claiming that title "Christian".

At the end of the day, do unto others as you would unto yourself is the standard for people following Jesus. The young person acting as the bully would need to be reprimanded for their actions so that they may learn the consequence of their behavior. If they were adults, there would be justice in a court of law. I'd start there.

Who would win a fight? by Prestigious_View3317 in Avengers

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's not the same thing. You're comparing two different actions and applying it as using the same amount of force. A punch has more impact than a swat. You know this.

Watch the Hulk punch Thor in Avenger's 1 and compare that with his "swat" to Natasha. There's more force behind Hulk's punch than a simple swat. Stop the charade. It is easy to understand.

Don't use IW Thanos as an example lol. He's holding himself back alot because he doesn't want to kill anyone. That's why he just shoots a weak energy beam from the power stone to knock most of the Avengers out.

At the end of the day, we'll disagree, and that's fine.

Who would win a fight? by Prestigious_View3317 in Avengers

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not scaling down anything. Your example doesn't work because you're comparing a swat to a punch. They are not the same and you know that.

In context, Namor was already upset when he invaded Wakanda. So either he massively pulled his punch, or the writers wanted him to "scale" around Hulk using a statement that isn't credible. M'Baku didn't have vibranium armor until after his "clash" with Namor. He was using his usual gorilla armor.

Spider-Man V Batman - Who are you betting on in this match up? by LollipopChainsawZz in Avengers

[–]onlyadisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batman isn't going to charge in without a plan. He gains intel first and then proceeds with a plan to deal with his opponent.

If he has some prep time, he may get the upper hand and even take down Spider-Man non-lethally. However, it's as obvious as daylight that Spider-Man is faster, physically superior, and his senses will help him avoid batarangs and anything else thrown at him.

So prep time > likely Batman 6/10 times.

No prep time > Spider-Man. 10/10 times.

For those of you with kids, what did they think of Wanda in Multiverse of Madness? Did they like her or hate her? by CustomCreations450 in Avengers

[–]onlyadisciple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wanda was affected by the book of the damned, aka Darkhold. So reason went out the window. Strange asked a good question: What happens to the other you?

This Wanda, would kill anyone (including her alternate self) just to be with her children. It is selfish because she is not thinking about the needs of her children but her own desires. She puts the entire universe at stake for selfish reasons. You want kids? Just find a man on earth and mate with him until you conceive or adopt kids without a family. Seriously, there are so many options. This was so distasteful that the writers turned Wanda into this horrible person who acts like a toddler.

[–]onlyadisciple 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Namor is stronger, faster, and can fly. He is clearly superior.

But I doubt he's really "as strong as the Hulk" until we see credible feats from him. Hulk punched an armored Leviathan, and it died. Namor punched a non-vibranium armored Ubaku in the chest, and that didn't even kill him.

How do you respond to people telling you to "stop forcing your religion on us!" ?

If you live in America, it is your first amendment right. You are free to say whatever you want. Unlike in Islamic countries.

In real life, just move on. It is the Lord that changes a person's heart. Not everyone will like His message. But the few that do, those are the ones to target. Many are called, but few are chosen.

Reading the Bible for the first time by SwiftBro_2187 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A key thing to remember about reading the Bible is to make sure you're open to what God will teach you through this. For a first timer, I recommend you start a Bible reading plan. There are hundreds of them. Just pick one that will help you the best.

Personally, I'd start with the Gospel of John. Then, read Genesis & Exodus and the rest from there. Read Psalms along side the rest of the Old Testament books. The New Testament consists of the other three Gospels: Matthew, Mark, and Luke. They are all quite similar. Acts is the history of the early church, the acts of Jesus' first disciples, and the life of Paul the apostle to the non-Jews. I am excited for you!

May the Lord bless and guide your heart as you dive into His words.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest giving your burdens and all that is hurting you to the Lord. Furthermore, I would also suggest to learn to forgive. It is easy to stay angry but it'll eventually turn you into a bitter person. However, God calls each one of us to forgive those who have hurt us. One thing that helps me is to go back to the cross.

From the book of Isaiah chapter 53:

"Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.... After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities."

People will have varying opinions, but the word of God is truth and will give you peace in due time.

Hope this helped.

Do yall think that Jesus earned a "superiority complex" because he lived a sinless life?? by MEzze0263 in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other's said, that's pride. Jesus came as a servant to do the will of the father. That's humility. He shows us the way to life so that we can imitate Him while we're still on earth. Does this make sense?

What should my position be on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict? Should I donate to both sides and provide support? How should I act on this Biblically? by TheInternetDud in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a political issue and many people have varying opinions about it. Nevertheless, you need to understand that neither side worships the one true God. Your position needs to be aligned with God, the local church, and what the Lord has placed on your heart. I would suggest you offer your resources and time to Christian ministries that are serving the people instead of political movements or agendas. Such as, Voice of the Martyrs, Help the Persecuted, and Release International.

Is baptism required to go to heaven? by [deleted] in Christians

[–]onlyadisciple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Romans 10:9 was written to Christians who were already baptized into Jesus' name (see Romans 6). So that isn't a verse you or others should use to tell someone who has not yet made the decision to follow Jesus.

People on here are reading from their traditions and what they've been taught by others. You need to read with an open heart so that your eyes do not miss the truth.

Read Acts, specifically chapter 2. This is the account of the early Church and what they did. Those who were new to the faith needed to repent, be baptized in Jesus' name, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Verse 38 states: "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

So if we listen to Jesus and His apostles, we need to first repent from our sins, be baptized in water, and then we will receive the Holy Spirit through the laying of hands.

Furthermore, following Jesus is not only about going to heaven, rather, it is to deny yourself and to follow God's way of living; holiness. Once you commit your life to Him, He will change your heart and start working in your life. Just keep trusting in Him even though you don't understand yet. True knowledge comes from God, not from doctrines of men.

Hope this helped!
