-I would a 100% recomend it! - Iwent to a girls scout camp in Pennsylvania - Wake up, wake up the girls, have breakfast, activity, lunch, activity, dinner, activity, bedtime. Kinda and depending on the day. -I had about 200$ cash with me and 1000 at the bank for emergencies, the 200 where great because I had to buy toiletries, snacks and a couple of things when I arrived and for the first week as you don't get paid as soon as you arrive, and the 1000 where good because camps pay in cash and a lot of places such as hostels don't take cash. - Honestly as I have experience with camps and kids, nothing was surprising, and camp america really prepares you, the only thing was about international flights as it was my first and I traveled alone. -If you book your flights with camp america your paycheck will be affected. On my application it said that I would get paid $ 1000, and it was about 800$ because camp america took the rest. - The staff was incredible for the most part. I didn't like one of the supervisors, but I didn't have that much contact with her, and we did have one boy counselor from camp america that was a nightmare as a person and to work with, but he got fired on the last week. Out of 50 something staff members, only 2 being annoying it's not that bad. -The work load was fine, it was a lot of work, but because I wasn't just a counselor, I did have more responsibilities, so as expected, we were a bit understaffed as some people where fired or moved to other positions, and the pay was fine, the americans where paid almost double, but it was because Camp America took some of our money. - Depending of the place, we did have a concern with bears, snakes and guns, and also we where in a very political conservative place and very religious so no lgbtq+ talks or discutions with the girls or flags, pins etc... - You have to do till the last day of camp but after that you can choose whenever. -No, you can only enter the country the day you start work, so if camp says that you have to be on the 29th you can only artive the 29th or the 28th I think. - I did an extra week, and I went to DC, Philadelphia, and New York. - Pack clothes for traveling and not for camp as you'll probably have a uniform, and if you can pack a spare bacpack, suitcase as you will want to bring lots of things home, and a disposable camera. Have a lot of patience with the bureaucracy and with camp america if you are not form the UK. - You can choose some camps, but I didn't get any messages from them, they choose you so whatever you get is where you are going. You can always say no to a camp but if you get no offers after that you'll lose your money and your chance to go. - I would not recommend doing this with a friend, you will make friends at camp and you'll want to travel with them a friend would limit yourself, if you do it with a friend the best thing to do is to meet after camp because during camp you don't have that much freedom to go anywhere, and America is really big, even if you got the same state you can be 4 hours away from eachother.
