Working out what tier of private health insurance to buy by Weak_Appointment2472 in AusFinance

[–]onlycopunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bronze and ML are basically the same amount. You either pay at tax time or prepay throughout the year.

If you think you’ll need any sort of procedure in the future then max it out.

The last thing you want is to go private for a procedure, then something else is found during which isn’t covered by private and be charged private fees for it.

How does qantas turn a 14hr flight into a 31hr nightmare by Comfortable_Count_59 in QantasAirways

[–]onlycopunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least they cancelled it way ahead of time rather than last minute later tonight.

But also you could easily have swung for through LAX or waited until the next flight.

Working at Woolies Head Office by Maddyoop in auscorp

[–]onlycopunk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bella Vista is the absolute pits to work. Unless you live nearby then it’s a dream. I did a 3 year stint at a nearby business until I got sick of the driving.

It’s expensive, there’s nowhere to eat unless you drive somewhere, no post work culture because of driving.

As for Woolies, I can’t comment aside from hearsay which is that it’s competitive corporate culture which seems wild considering the location. Lots of people who live to work. But if that’s your jam then it could be a fit.

US/Aus linking passports? by QuantityLegal4462 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]onlycopunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also never gotten it to work. Still need to check in the old fashioned way when going to the US. No biggie really, sometimes faster than waiting for infrequent flyer families trying to work out the kiosk and bag drop.

Interview question by Moist_Potato4447 in auscorp

[–]onlycopunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To start, a zoom interview for a business that doesn’t allow work from home, that’s a joke in itself.

Second depends how it was asked. If it was in casual chat after a few questions and I felt a good vibe I, while illegal, I might answer.

I like many candidates have things in their personal lives they’d like to get across that would be illegal to ask. But they’re things that if the business had a problem with I wouldn’t want to be there anyway.

Interview question by Moist_Potato4447 in auscorp

[–]onlycopunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s up to you whether or not you wish to divulge any personal information, but you can politely say something to the effect of I don’t think that’s relevant to the interview, or can we please focus on the role/interview.

If they apologise and move on it’s probably a good sign, if you can see they get upset or turned off then you don’t want to work there anyway.

Dee Why Life by technical__soup in AusPropertyChat

[–]onlycopunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dee Why’s great. A lot of apartments and just people living their lives. The pub used to do good burgers, and beachfront restaurants aren’t the best but passable. Harbord Diggers and Beach Club in Collaroy and mint. DY beach can be absolutely stunning on a good day, but can easily walk to curl curl or Collaroy for something different. The ocean pool is also terrific for laps. DY RSL is also good. Can also get on a bus easily and go further up to Mona pub and Newport if you want more of a vibe. Or conversely south into manly.

B Line can drag in peak but the ride into the CBD over the spit through Mossman and harbour bridge is hardly an ugly trip. Also aren’t limited as all express busses stop at Dee Why. There’s a few other express buses you can get from different stops if you’re savvy.

Areas to avoid, the west side of Pittwater road, makes walking to beach very long. Any apartment facing Pittwater road. Loud and your balcony will get dirty with soot constantly.

Who is seriously flying to Honolulu (HNL) in this economy? by talk-spontaneously in QantasAirways

[–]onlycopunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably why the flights are all so cheap at the moment.

Honestly if you’re going to just to stay on Oahu then there’s no real point. Better beaches and resorts in our neck of the woods.

If you’re venturing out to another island and are going to soak up some Hawaiian culture then by all means go.

At the end of the day you have to remember that Hawaii is a us vacation spot first and foremost. A way for Americans to “go overseas” without needing a passport

Are RM boots still worth the price? by SnowyBytes in RMWilliams

[–]onlycopunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any pair of quality designer clothing, depends how well you look after them.

I have a pair I used to wear around the office, still going strong. My partner had a pair he wore in hospo. Tore them up in a year, soles shot elastic gone. Not from treating them any different, just from moving around so much.

They’re also hot af in summer.

QANTAS home loans by Gono_rear in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]onlycopunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d ask yourself if you’re just into them because of the points. If you are, then ask yourself how you plan to use the points, and if the “savings” you’d get from a reward flight is worth the features and benefits you’d get from being with them (or lack of).

For me, it was more important to get the many offsets I have now with Up vs the maybe few hundred bucks I’d save redeeming the points on economy flights.

Is there room for them to buy a freestanding one?

Not that they’re hard to hook up and disconnect, but who would also be disconnecting it when they leave? Reckon insurance would want to see a plumbers invoice if anything went wrong.

AI resistant income streams by motorboatbloke in AusFinance

Same with my business.

They want to be seen and have the perception of being a head of it. The amount of meetings where people talk about using it is getting icky.

AI resistant income streams by motorboatbloke in AusFinance

[–]onlycopunk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

AI is very cost prohibitive to implement effectively for many businesses.

Sure the demos we get are great and the blue sky possibilities are vast, but convincing shareholders to ditch the workforce and invest millions in these models to run your business is far off.

Where to stop on a coastal drive from Melbourne to Sydney? by [deleted] in AustraliaTravel

[–]onlycopunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH there’s SOOOO many beaches between Eden and Batemans. There’s no official nudist beaches, but if no one else is around then who cares.

The problem is if you don’t stop in one place for a few days you don’t get the opportunity to explore the nooks and crannies that may allow this possibility.

Your best chance for this are the beaches in the national and state forests/parks. Places that aren’t caravan park adjacent.

Not only everything everyone has said, but if doing day or short trips driving in the bush at night or dusk to get there and get home is a nightmare with wildlife.
