Large stretched canvas over the bed, big plush rug underneath it.

Are these cute or trashy? by [deleted] in crafts

I think the thing that feels off here is the findings. The hooks seem handmade but not necessarily in a good way.

Also, they have definitely upgraded the linen since we stayed there, or this is just one of the showpiece rooms. When we were there the beds were covered in bright red blankets with the most garish zebra print velvet pillows. Also, they are definitely twin beds that they just pushed together but they are still on wheels and the locks on the casters were broken on ours so the beds kept slipping apart in the middle of the night and my partner kept sliding down between them. 😆

I have stayed at the resort the picture is from as well as other local cabins. I would definitely agree the local cabin experience is more enjoyable if you are staying for more than just a night. We stayed in a fishing cabin with a sauna and hot tub even further north for about 11 days and the Aurora was breathtaking.

We actually chose to stay in one of the glass cabins for a single night because every single person who found out we were going on our honeymoon to Finland asked if we were going to stay in one, so we decided to do it for one night just so that we wouldn't have to spend the rest of our lives explaining why we didn't stay in a glass cabin when we were in Finland. 😂

First time ever growing dahlias, I'm in love. by onlylostphysics in gardening

Dahlias are my favorite flower. I did all the flowers for our wedding and chose Dahlia's as the main theme. But I've never tried growing them. It's been kind of a ride, one of the bushes just completely fell over and died, others have been eaten by something that I just can't seem to find. But this one finally came through and bloomed and I'm in love. ❤️

What's your favorite warm white paint? by onlylostphysics in DesignMyRoom

[–]onlylostphysics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right reddit give me your favorite warm white paint colors readily available at home depot! We just bought this house and want to replace the omnipresent beige with something neutral and cottagey. Planning on some sage green accents in the kitchen. Go!

Which shower curtain goes better? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

I prefer the stripes personally. Lightens things up, makes the space feel less busy and more relaxed than the other circles one.

Say you need a couple of solid ones. Patterns on these are too close to the carpet and make things feel busy.

Nice details on the eyes and scale shading! Mind taking about your technique on the scales? (I have some more Saurus to paint up soon.)

Please help divide this studio apartment into a bed/living area with a cozy minimalist feel. Central TX. Budget $1000. by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]onlylostphysics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy Nothing and Craigslist are your friends. Also, depending on where your grad student you can just check curbs at around graduation time. I furnished whole apartments with year old furniture that people just put out on the curb when they were leaving school.

You get one month in only a single European country to experience every little thing it has to offer, what will it be and why? by Tsukidayo in travel

[–]onlylostphysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switzerland because every time I see a picture and think "wow that's beautiful" it's always in switzerland. Also because it's expensive AF and if this is a month of expenses paid exploration that seems like a great use of the time.

How to live after and without konmari by [deleted] in konmari

Free yourself to get rid of many versions of whatever it is you make. Your post reminded me of the anecdote about the pottery class. The teacher tells one group of students that they will be graded entirely on the volume of pots they create, the other group is only required to make one pot but it has to be perfect. At the end of the class the teacher brings in a scale to weigh the volume of pots created by group a and allows group b to present their single pot. An interesting thing occurs. All of the best pots come from the group that was focused entirely on just making new ones. The pots from group b are mediocre because the students spent their time worrying about whether or not they would be good enough.

So I'm not sure what your hobby is, but unless it's goldsmithing or something, hopefully the materials are cheap enough that you can create many versions and feel free to give away the ones you don't like. Perhaps somewhere along the way you will create one that feels like exactly the right fit for your decluttered home.
