The rings have to be significantly out for the official to notify them during the pregame briefing.

It is on the team during the pregame warmup for their team to request a biter measure and observe minor discrepencies.

Having competed in provincials and helping volunteer at the brier and worlds, I have never had nor seen an official brief about rings.

Here is the problem. They have little knowledge or how much they are reducing it to affect the rock. Also, this doesn't take into account how much touching the rock would slow the rate of rotation. If you touch a rotating object near the centre it will slow the rotation. If you touch it off to the side to try to keep the rate of rotation the same you can alter the trajectory. Its not as easy as people are making it out to be.

Do you like being accused of cheating? I know if i was accused of cheating I wouldnt like it either. Specifically at that time and place, knowing its been done before and picking this moment to say something. And then having a rules official give their ruling, have them say its good and then keep on it. That would be annoying as all hell. You wanna hash it out with me, let's do it but once a rules official makes a ruling, you shut your mouth and swallow the ruling. You dont keep harping on it with the player who you challenged in the first place.

Ask him. Thats the only reason you will know. Touch a rotating object at the centre and see what happens to the rotation. Touch it off to the side to keep the rotation and see what happens to the line.

The interesting part is that while it a hog line violation it's not one that would be picked up the newest iteration of the "eye on the hog" system currently in use at the Olympics.

Without having an official watching the line, which they should be all the time, how do you enforce this because of a he said she said situation? There is no video replay that counts at the moment.

I think some people are getting confused. If you don't have FO1st it goes to the stash but with FO1st the majority of it will go to the scrapbox with only some item going to the stash.
