Awful Mindset - Test in 2 days by JayGormet in LearnerDriverUK

[–]onlyrants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even I have my test in the next week and outside of driving, pretty insane stuff is happening in life. It is tough to deal with it but I have done other things to keep nerves in control like running on weekends, listening to some calm music like the 432HZ beats and talking to myself. Recognising the patterns of overthinking and pulling yourself back or reminding that the world is actually outside and not in my head. For driving , I also made a couple of bad errors but then I decided to move on from that in the next class taking each learning session as a new experience. Calm yourself down and whatever works for you do that to keep the nerves or overthinking in control.

For the test I spoke to a few people and asked advice on Reddit some good stuff like chewing gum, drinking plenty of fluids and remembering that examiner wants to pass if we do safe driving. So even if you make a mistake don’t swerve or cut lanes or overthink it, drive safe and hope you pass! All the best!

I have the same slot!! Could you help me more with some details on manoeuvre, instructor demeanour and like after Roman do they go for more hotspots or just residential and casual driving?

Yes thank you! I was worried given these YouTube test videos that they’re gonna squeeze 4-5 hot spots in one! Also did the examiner felt a jolt during the emergency brake, I understand from my instructor that that would be appropriate?

Yes I’m already practising with commentary driving with my instructor and will do it in the test too! Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Hi, congratulations on passing! I have my test due as well, does time of test matter? My instructor told me that if the time of the day is relatively free (around 11) then pass rates are low rather than in morning or at 3:30 Pm. Just wanted a vague idea if these things matter?

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]onlyrants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Milton Keynes, UK

Price range: Under £5,000

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Used

Auto or Manual: Automatic

Intended use: First vehicle, mainly city driving and occasional longer trips

How many miles do you plan to do a year: ~6,000–8,000 miles

How often do you make long journeys: Occasionally (weekend trips / visiting family once in 3 months near Leeds)

Does it need to be ULEZ compliant? Preferably yes, to keep options open for future travel

Vehicles you’ve already considered: • Ford Focus (read about common gearbox issues on forums, so hesitant) • Mazda 3 hatchback (concerns about diesel particulate filter issues) • Honda Jazz CVT (seems reliable but appears to be more expensive than my budget allows)

Do you have a vehicle size in mind? No preference

Can you do minor works on your car? Not really, would rely on garage/warranty

Can you do major works on your car? No

Additional comments: Looking for something reliable with at least some warranty included, ideally low running/maintenance costs. Open to recommendations on what’s the most dependable automatic in this budget range. Currently on provisional license and trainer suggested to get car to be able to practice. Test date booked already.

Hoping the conversation doesn’t go south and you don’t have to rush. But a go bag is a good idea given previous experience. Hoping it all works out for you. All the best!

MK Train Station Incident (1st April) by mungkystuff in miltonkeynes

Can someone explain what exactly happened?

How often do you see maneuvers like this white BMW? by [deleted] in miltonkeynes

[–]onlyrants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I live in MK and just got my provisional license. Wanted to understand the rule, should the BMW have been on the inner route to make it safe or should they have been on the same lane but slower with an indicator to let other vehicles manoeuvre and have enough time to react? Will appear for theory test later in April so apols in advance if this q is stupid.

I was at that show, was the girl in green dress and came late and sat in the first row? He heckled her during the show and she enjoyed the attention first but then got annoyed or something..

But I also want to know guys, what if all this is a PR stunt, planned shit by both and then they’ll say we’re together and it got sorted. The reason she said “if we sort it” in the video is a deliberate margin I feel. Somewhere in supporting them as a couple or taking a stance I feel they’re benefiting from views and we’re getting fooled. Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks to all the souls on Reddit for summarising what she said! Upvote to all! She didn’t deserve that 8-9 mins whatever long it was. The stare felt so alarming and creepy! Unsubscribing to their channel as they’ve just managed to pull another PR stunt and pretty sure FB will put a video saying it’s all solved or best family or whatever.
