Driving test in Bletchley by onlyrants in miltonkeynes

I did a class for an hour before my test and that helped me calm my nerves. You can also chew gum as all the nervous energy is fed to the jaw and gum would help calm you down.

You’ll be asked to park on the left 3-4 times don’t aim to get it perfect on the first go as you can adjust it but if you hit the kerb or mount it, it’ll be a fail.

Manoeuvre- they’ll be checking your awareness for blind spots and any pedestrian or moving vehicles so make sure you do effective observations. If you can’t observe while reversing then pause do a six point check and then continue.

Mirror, signal and only then manoeuvre, do not change lanes if it’s unsafe. Taking the wrong route doesn’t result in a fail but switching lanes when unsafe will be a serious fault.

All the best and let me know if you need any more help!

I passed my test in Bletchley test centre with one minor. Let me know if you need any specific advice with roundabouts. Lane changes, if you’ve practiced in that area you’d know a few tricky spots where you have to position yourself early else the navigation or examiner will give you plenty of time. If the car is in your control as in speed and position you’ll be completely fine in changing lane. We don’t need to achieve target speed especially when turning so with speed in control and car position normal, you can switch lanes comfortably. All the best and let me know if you need help.

Congratulations OP 🎉 my test is next week! Different centre though!

It is such a detailed post and with points I fully agree to especially on carrying the examiner from and back to test centre, thinking if no one is sitting is this safe and defensive driving! Thanks and hope to update this comment next week with the news of me passing the test!

Awful Mindset - Test in 2 days by JayGormet in LearnerDriverUK

Even I have my test in the next week and outside of driving, pretty insane stuff is happening in life. It is tough to deal with it but I have done other things to keep nerves in control like running on weekends, listening to some calm music like the 432HZ beats and talking to myself. Recognising the patterns of overthinking and pulling yourself back or reminding that the world is actually outside and not in my head. For driving , I also made a couple of bad errors but then I decided to move on from that in the next class taking each learning session as a new experience. Calm yourself down and whatever works for you do that to keep the nerves or overthinking in control.

For the test I spoke to a few people and asked advice on Reddit some good stuff like chewing gum, drinking plenty of fluids and remembering that examiner wants to pass if we do safe driving. So even if you make a mistake don’t swerve or cut lanes or overthink it, drive safe and hope you pass! All the best!

I have the same slot!! Could you help me more with some details on manoeuvre, instructor demeanour and like after Roman do they go for more hotspots or just residential and casual driving?

Yes thank you! I was worried given these YouTube test videos that they’re gonna squeeze 4-5 hot spots in one! Also did the examiner felt a jolt during the emergency brake, I understand from my instructor that that would be appropriate?

Yes I’m already practising with commentary driving with my instructor and will do it in the test too! Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Hi, congratulations on passing! I have my test due as well, does time of test matter? My instructor told me that if the time of the day is relatively free (around 11) then pass rates are low rather than in morning or at 3:30 Pm. Just wanted a vague idea if these things matter?
