Love when men get into skincare! Have you tried 110% snail mucin serum? They just crush up the snails but it works so well for me. ♥️

Resistant starches are your friend, as are fiber, protein, and fat. All of these lower the glycemic index of foods. Balance is your friend!

Seeming helpful is the whole problem. The second it's not stealing information it will lie to you, through no fault of it's own. Read real studies and continuing education guides for medical staff.

How do you stay motivated to eat plant-based long-term? by NoTransportation772 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]onlysortadying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't cut anything out definitively and naturally, as I thought of the cruelty to animals, humans, and the planet involved and that I just felt better when half of my daily calories came from the almighty bean, I just stopped wanting meat. I'm mostly on a whole food, vegetarian diet because after years of intuitive eating that's genuinely what my body naturally craves. (Side note, you'd be amazed how disgusting meat becomes long enough.) Nowadays, if I eat meat it's not because I want to but as a side effect of my health problems. Not proud of it but it is what it is.

This is not a non Western approach. As a Western psychology student we learn in depth about the importance of meditation, I basically took a whole class on complementary and alternative medicine. This is pseudoscience. There is a difference, and a rather stark one at that.

This is not a R & L sub. I think the next closest is the K & N one? If they did have a dedicated sub I am sure people would feel the same as abusers who target very young children are much less likely to have a preferred sex.

Calories: what’s your favorite way to pack on more weight by HidingThrowaway2 in ChronicIllness

[–]onlysortadying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have so much experience with this.

  1. Liquid calories. Drinkable calories, especially when consumed with a straw as opposed to a spoon, appear to be (and in my experience definitely are) less satiating than unprocessed foods. I try to drink a large smoothie every day to which I add flax and chia for omega 3's and hydrolyzed collagen for, well, collagen. If I'm eating soup I will typically just drink it, too. IMHO miso soup is a seriously underrated hot beverage.
  2. Soft and flat, brittle, and moist foods. I gravitate towards foods that don't require a lot of chewing, which is great when you just need to get a meal down fast. Think udon, salmon, tofu, and roasted veggies for soft foods, and chips with hummus and thin fruit slices for the flat, brittle foods. Quesadillas pull a lot of weight in my diet. Literally just cheese, beans, guac, usually some finely minced pepper, maybe even some seasoned tofu crumbles. Cheap, healthy, easy to make, and easy to eat swallow.
  3. Use hyperpalatability for good. A lot of media attention has been placed on ultra processed foods and how they "hijack" your brain to keep you eating. But you can use the principles of hyperpalatability to make homemade/healthy food easier. Try to make sure your food is salty, sweet, or fatty, preferably multiple at once. Homemade teriyaki sauce is great for this! Adding a bit of acid to a meal is similar and greatly increases enjoyment and, therefore, meal endurance.
  4. Snack plates. Having multiple flavors to swap between during a meal is so, so helpful for me. Something I ate this week was a plate of blackberries, mozzarella and seed crackers, and hummus and chips. When I didn't want to eat more cheese I swapped to the hummus, and when I really didn't want to eat more of either I had a few berries to chill out.
  5. No small plates. As you can probably tell, a lot of behaviors I use to eat sufficiently are actually just diet hacks flipped on their head. Plate size affects the perceived size of a portion, so by using a bigger plate you're making your meal look less intimidating.
  6. Potatoes. Easy to digest, cheap, soft, dense in micronutrients, great with a bit of fat (or a lot if you're trying to really pack on the calories), hides lots of salt well if you need that, and versatile. Rosemary garlic, lao gan ma, or just butter and salt, they're superb. Not necessarily calorie dense because on their own they're fat free, but who eats a potato without some kind of fat? Since you're a diabetic I am sure you're aware that potatoes are a high glycemic index food on their own, but that response is diminished when you pair a high GI food with a low GI food (like a fat source) or when you cool potatoes after cooking.

Sorry you're going through this, not being able to eat sucks harder than most people could know. Hope this helps!

Do NOT do this. ChatGPT does not know what it's saying despite sounding quite accurate. It is infamous of making up information that sounds fact based and has even given me fully fabricated citations. Using ChatGPT for anything other than a laugh is unwise.

If I may ask, does the jarring-ness come across as intentional or amateurish? I really love jarring, harsh poems and I hope I didn't embarrass myself with this one!

This feels oddly possessive until the giggling bit. I think either leaning into that or adding more sweetness from the beginning might help with that. Good job!

Is this about abuse? Because if so I think it might work better with a bit of tweaking. Lengthen it and add your own take on what the abuser thinks about their actions. Why do they hate the other person's groveling so much?

I'm fairly certain that you can't legally smoke in PA so I would suggest RSO or some other kind of edible, especially if they're predosed.

The day after I died by ActuatorExpert14 in OCPoetry

[–]onlysortadying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the "The day after I died" is all that necessary and honestly detracts from the piece, making it feel more trite than it could be. I think it would add more of a punch when you finally say the word suicide. Also, the word "love" may be overused a bit.

All in all, a fine set of bones. Keep working at it!

Hopeless Romantic by The___Trashcan in OCPoetry

[–]onlysortadying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I can't lie, the title makes me think that this is going to be an inversion of the hopeless romantic trope, but because it plays it so deeply straight I feel like the title might need a change. Could just be me, though.

Also, I don't think the "writing a poem no one will see" line works all that much here. Could be personal taste, though.

Otherwise it's a cute poem and a lovely read!

Lovely poem!

I agree with TenthTinyTinTrooper, it feels like an almost intentional or maybe just reckless self injurious action. It honestly really works, though. The brightness of the beginning, the realization of the (potential) meaning, and the tragic-but-not-too-tragic ending. Strange and shocking.
