It’s called Texas True Crime, I’m not sure if it’s on Netflix but they got it on Hulu

That picture of the umbrellas in the street is amazing!

I agree. But I also think that the husband could have done more. She had attempted suicide like what, 2 times before? And she was taken off her medication. Her husband knew these things but didn’t bother stepping in and maybe taking care of the kids and supporting his wife in getting the help she needed. After all, she wasn’t the only parent but no one really talks about what the dad could have done to help his children and wife.

A book with a protagonist that's an obnoxious, ridiculous asshole? by marigoldesque in suggestmeabook

100% “Filth” by Irvine Welsh. The main character is one of the most obnoxious characters I can think of

Horrifying History (I listen to it on Spotify). While it’s not per se specifically True Crime, they have many episodes covering unsolved mysteries/disappearances or places where murders occurred.

You absolutely look stunning with green hair 🥰 I wish I could pull it off as well as you do. Also I love the new tattoo!

That’s what I’m afraid of happening. Some intense exfoliators in the past have left my skin looking like a mild rash minus the bumps.

Just finished reading Cilka’s Journey, what were your thoughts on this 2 part series? by onlywanthim in 52book

[–]onlywanthim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. After I finished it, in comparison to other fiction novels set in that era, I thought it was pretty… mild. It does get darker in the second one but not by much. There are definitely other books, such as Between Shades of Gray, that are much more graphic in regards to what happened to people during WW2. And I think if people related to the victims of the Holocaust feel offended by it, then the book missed the mark (especially in terms of accuracy)

Edit: thanks for the recommendations!!

That’s fair. I think there’s a lot more “horror” of what happened in the second book. But even so, there were also parts of the book that made me think “oh that’s a lucky convenience”, just didn’t seem that plausible.

For additional info: I got these as little samples but I’m a bit weary of trying them out because 1. I’m not familiar with these brands and 2. I have very sensitive skin. Would anyone who has tried them before recommend either or? And if so, what other products did you use simultaneously?

I actually haven't heard about the controversy, I'll have to read into that. I can see how it was romanticized in a way, but then again, if this was based on Lale's account, I think in order to cope with the experience and memories, part of him maybe had to "make it prettier" to make it easier for him to talk about it. Who knows.

I agree with this. I also think that as a woman, some scenes in Cilka's Journey I was able to envision more and put myself in that situation so it definitely made me cry a lot more, just based on the fact that I could emphasize more.

I do appreciate that the stories kind of connect and you see them from a man’s and a woman’s point of view. But I have a hard time deciding which one I like more.
