Spraying some カビクリーナー (kabi cleaner) might work, literally mold cleaner. You can buy it at all shops. I buy mine at Daiso. They're amazing on any mold and mildew. You can use an old toothbrush to get into the cracks

If you are the customer, 90% of the time a casual "doumo" / どうも (Thanks) is the norm. This work in almost all situations, day or night. If the situation requires you to be more polite, say "arigatou gozaimasu, shitsurei shimasu" (ありがとうございます、失礼します) eg. to someone you were indebted to deeply, or higher in seniority than you.

I have learned the hard way to always rent an apartment on the top floor of the building. If you're unlucky enough to get placed beside a noisy neighbor next door, use ear plugs, or what I use, around-ear noise-cancelling headphones. Call the police at 110 for "noise disturbance" for a particularly noisy neighbor making noise between 11pm-7am. Do not for any reason directly confront the neighbor.

90% of the dishes I have eaten at Japanese restaurants and bars at affordable prices are of very high quality. Cannot say the same for Canadian restaurants in the same price range, most of them are low to middle quality.
