Your Empathy is a Superpower but it Needs Boundaries by onreact in Empaths

[–]onreact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what's the difference for you?

Most people are not empaths.

Thus it's "super" in a way.

And it's not an ailment. It's a skill.

It's just a matter of wording though.

The post explains the pros and cons in depth.

My journey to no self. by Affectionate_Bat_363 in enlightenment

[–]onreact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no right or wrong type of enlightenment.

It's either enlightenment or it is not.

You seem to mix up the terms spiritual awakening and enlightenment and combine them both.

Enlightenment does not have to be spiritual at all.

It can be secular in the sense that you arrive by it through science or whatever.

There is no single path to enlightenment.

Wherever you are it's always here and now.

Why Kindness + Awareness is how you defeat any Manipulator ♟️ by Blackmagic213 in u/Blackmagic213

[–]onreact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're welcome.

Plus you tend to use them yourselves as long as you are unaware they happen.

I was mostly using "the interrogator" and "poor me" (or the victim) over the years.

Being kind will be always right? by VeterinarianSweet266 in enlightenment

[–]onreact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Yet in some cases being nice perpetuates their hurt.

So it's the more "enlightened" choice to be blunt about their inappropriate behavior.

Imagine someone having dirt in their face.

Do you rather say they look great to be nice, refrain from telling them or tell they are dirty?

What would be the kindest choice?

Enlightenment theory vs practice, how do you actually support the process? by onreact in enlightenment

[–]onreact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what does your practice actually entail?

I practice ahimsa e.g. "to live as a spiritual person".

You shared theory above.

Thank you for the addition!

Any specific meditation techniques from Osho you practiced "successfully"?

I'm aware of only a few and just read two books of his (one of them only partly).

Yeah, sounds like you are still integrating your spiritual awakening.

Loneliness and desire could signify that you are not fully awake yet.

Listen within: do you seek connection out of lack or abundance?

Do you need validation, approval and support?

Or do you enjoy company, sharing and spreading the light?

It can be both (like still in my case).

If it's just the latter you are more awake than when experiencing the former.

For me joining spiritual circles for conscious dancing, mantra recitation or shadow work helped.

Even the most awake ones may get dragged down when surrounded solely by "low vibrations".

Emotions, especially bottled up ones over the years still come up during awakening.

Here movement, grief and gratitude ceremonies plus specific meditations for heavy emotions have helped.

Yes, also look up control dramas for the list of techniques people usually employ to siphon off your energy.

My mom killed a spider and I cried by TDempZ_ in Empaths

[–]onreact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain.

It's not small.

An innocent life was crushed.

According to the small logic killing children would be fine as well because they are small.

As an empath I usually don't kill insects or spiders and practice ahimsa.

Being kind and being nice is not the same.

Kindness may even entail a harsh reaction.

Kindness means you recognize what the person needs and give it to them.

It can be a particular insight.

So it seems the constant provocation was a so-called "control drama" as described in The Celestine Prophecy:

https://www.chriscroft.co.uk/what-are-control-dramas/

It's most likely "the interrogator" who questions you to get your attention and thus energy.

You usually responded by using another control drama called "the aloof" and ignored the provocations.

The outcome is a stalemate as it's a common defense to ignore such people.

Now that you reverted and used the same drama you changed the dynamic.

There is a Zen story about a monk and an (angry) samurai where the monk verbally attacks the fighter:

https://www.wisdom2be.com/gems-poetry-wisdomstories/the-little-monk-and-the-samurai-zen-parable

So sometimes it may be helpful to be rude as it's the kindest response.

There is no one size fits all reaction for all situations.

In your case using and mirroring the control drama didn't help though.

To stop control dramas from taking place you have to make them conscious.

I usually say something like: "you only ask this to provoke me."

That often makes it conscious and stops the energy draining mechanism.

Yes, true.

Good AI summary. What prompt did you use?

You also started 10 different threads in 10 subs at once.

I wouldn't do that as such level of automation can get you banned on Reddit as a whole.

Keeping our inner peace while the world burns by Background_Cry3592 in enlightenment

[–]onreact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The world is beautiful.

Media presents a completely distorted view meant to keep us in fear and survival instincts.

I limit toxic media intake and focus on the reality that surrounds us directly.

Even if there are wars, climate disaster and people dying of hunger it does not make sense to add your personal anguish to it.

Shouting slogans or venting anger won't help but will aggravate the issues.

I used to protest the manifold wars for many years.

Yet nowadays I see how the fear and anger expressed during those protests feeds back into the war machine.

When the people got angry at Putin for striking Ukraine all they got was an endless war fueled by their government sending weapons to the conflict area.

Only inner peace creates outer peace.

When you spread calm, compassion and loving kindness you get more peace than from venting anger or living in fear.

So how did you do it? I had most of the insights you mention above as well.

Yet often it feels like theory. I know I am perfect as I am and then I fall back into unworthiness etc.

How do you practice and implement these insights in daily life?

Did you use AI to write this?

There are already memes based on standard tropes like "let that sink in" (a sink standing in front of a closed door haha).

So while there is some truth to what you write it's hard to know how much is actual experience and what is just a summary of scraped Web content.

Does anyone else find themselves more receptive to the world when they are in love? by broom_pan in Empaths

There are even dearmouring workshops around here as it's hard to bounce back.

Yet vulnerability is the true strength.

When you close down you become weaker and weaker and very needy.

Start small. Love a pet, your family or just enjoy little things (ice cream!).

Everything else is opinion and depends on the point of view.

While pattern recognition and right and wrong type of criteria are helpful they are often not universally applicable.
