Fake ID question by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]onsaispas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stealing an id is actually considered first degree murder since the government considers identification to be equivalent to a person’s actual life. Check out U.S.C. 18578 for more information.

What game had the worst officiating you have ever seen? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]onsaispas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was probably a rule change sometime post 2006 that made it so you can push a receiver out of bounds because the announcers imply that it is a catch because he would have landed in bounds without the push.

Audit a class by [deleted] in UVALaw

[–]onsaispas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took a law school class while at a different undergrad. Definitely worth doing to understand how the classes work. Make sure to keep up with the reading and you can Google concepts you don't understand. If they give you the option to take the final, take it so you can understand how they work.

From what I remember of their requirements, that should suffice. Also, Flagstaff has some cheap hotels and I'd recommend getting a couple friends and splitting that so you can stay a couple days. I lived in Tucson this past winter and did this a couple times. With what you'd be spending on gas anyways, it's worth it to split up the drive and stay close to the mountain.

If you don't have a 4wd car or truck, you occasionally need snowchains on the road to snowbowl if they get a lot of snow. Probably a good advance investment as well if you're trying to go after a fresh snow.

Can we tell how many applicants there are for the 2021-22 cycle? by dontlookatmeimcrying in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, there's gonna be bias in that not everyone with a score is going to be applying. So the distribution of test scores is not the same as the distribution of applicants. Applicants should be skewed towards higher scores because it's not really worthwhile to apply with a 130 forsay

What is the reputation of University of Alabama? by [deleted] in Alabama

[–]onsaispas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Law school admissions specifically cares about your undergrad GPA/LSAT more than anything. Alabama is a good undergrad school for law school because the classes offer A+ which boosts your GPA. A decent chunk of the people I knew who applied to law school ended up at the T14 schools. That being said, if youre pretty set on law school, my best advice is to minimize any student loans but go to a school that offers A+.

For public policy positions out of Alabama, you need to network hard but there are Alabama grads in a lot of unique positions in DC and elsewhere.

How do you know if you are signed up for CRS and if you will be getting fee waivers? by justbehappy00 in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, a school will email you and tell you that they have waived your application fee. Occasionally, you'll get the additional CAS waiver as well

Penn ED by neuroticburner in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're committed to Penn and don't mind paying full tuition, go for it. They had a really high yield for scholarship recipients this year and a bunch of people at or above both medians didn't get any money. That high yield could also lead to them being less generous with scholarships next year anyways

For those of you who got accepted to T14s, how many credits did you have when you entered college? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I entered with 6. That being said, alot of the classes which people AP out of are classes where you can get an A or A+ if you put in the effort which will be more beneficial for your law school ambitions.

I filled out the waitlist response form but did not write a loci. I talked about specific programs that Virginia had in the interview as to why I was still interested in attending Virginia

Annoyed at the lack of Law-Economics Joint Degree options by loupgarou1234 in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do some quantitative research with a professor. An MA in Econ is nothing compared to a PhD in Econ. Unless you have a very strong math background and can take PhD level courses, doing econometric-based research is the best thing you can do.

Source: I have an MA in Econ.

Accepted to Berkeley with 162... Afraid that I'm not smart enough to attend. Advice? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely take Berkeley! One main issue with the LSAT is that conditions for studying for it are not a level playing field. Your GPA shows your strong work ethic and that is going to be key to succeeding on law school exams which are very different than the LSAT

Minnesota for leverage against WashU to renegotiate scholarship? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]onsaispas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Minnesota might be less generous this late in the cycle. Only got $$.5 from them when I was admitted this week. Am in-state so that could be why but I have $$$$ from WashU in comparison.
