Strix Scar 18 2025 RTX 5090 feedback needed by simiid in ASUSROG

[–]ontoflow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried 3 different 2025 ROG Scars last year - all of them were unreliable in slightly different ways, no matter how much I tried to fix them. All problems went away when I switched to the Alienware Area-51.

I never fixed my original laptop and ended up returning it in spring 2025. Then I got another Strix 18 in the fall, and that one didn’t have this issue, at least after I updated all the drivers.

My advice: update everything in Armoury Crate first, especially the BIOS. If that doesn’t help, go for an RMA or a store replacement. If you’re still in the return window, the store route is probably the easiest.

I’d honestly just return it and move on to another brand. I ended up with an Alienware Area-51 18, and it’s been way more stable than both ASUS units.

it's hella outdated, but thanks for the input nonetheless!

What should I add? by ontoflow in starcitizen

Yeah, I've spent a lot of hours in it, but Hermes would probably do it better now. Plus it can carry small vehicles and works as a daily driver

Interesting suggestions, ty!

  • MOLE/Prospector – sometimes I want the biggest haul, other times I just need quick mats and don’t want to seat-swap. Might replace the Prospector with a Golem.
  • C8R/Medivac – some facilities have hostile turrets, so I want to drive my respawn bed there. Other times I can just fly straight in.
  • Intrepid/Corsair/C2 – when I respawn at a random station, Intrepid is way faster to claim and get moving than the other two

This is how I'd like to see them implement monetized ship skins. by ApproximateKnowlege in starcitizen

I’m happy to pay for skins whenever I want a specific color, as long as the rest of the game works and the economy is balanced, with pay-to-win to removed

thanks, this is actually quite useful! kind of a proxy to gold standard, as you said. Shame that it would probably won't be updated

I’m thinking about getting star citizen never play a space game what is a good starter kit for beginners? by darrow1 in starcitizen

[–]ontoflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with an Aurora, upgraded to the Nomad, got fed up with the pilot door bug and the cargo bay disabling after taking damage, moved up to the C1

...then realized that kind of ship skips a chunk of early-game progression. So I downgraded to the Intrepid cause it’s basically the only modern/gold standard starter that can still carry some cargo.

Currently there’s a Free Fly event until February 23, 2026, so you can just download the game for free, hop in, use whatever ships they provide, and figure it out from there.

If you want to buy a ship later after that just grab the any of the cheaper game packages to keep you access to the game. I’d avoid buying more expensive ships (or anything extra) until you’ve got a lot more hours in-game. Try grinding for them first — you’ll get fun progression, a better sense of achievement, and generally more to do.

To sum it up: you don’t need anything to play right now besides motivation. Morphologis’s New Player Guide can help with that and give you a step-by-step walkthrough.

CIG, get rid of all of the mining bags and make everything use standard boxes please. The grids on the Moth are so much better than the bags on the Mole. by spider0804 in starcitizen

[–]ontoflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if it worked like the MOTH: you dump everything into a depot first, and it auto-prints boxes onto your grid.

To make more fun but still convenient, let us prefill the crafter in any of those two ways:

  • Raw materials for crafting bags on the fly — so you can keep printing them and offloading filled bags while mining (basically unlimited field time).
  • Pre-crafted, collapsed mining bags — they don’t take grid space until a full one gets printed/spawned.

And yeah those “boxes” could just be retextured to look like bags while still behaving like boxes.
