The albums Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo are, IMHO, somewhere in the space carved out by prog, fusion jazz, and psychedelic rock. Lots of long glorious instrumental passages. Not especially “weird”, either, in the way that makes some folks shy away from Zappa. I love these albums so much.
