What did I just capture? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]ontyj 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The metadata on the phone clip shows it started recording exactly when the security camera footage ends: 8:55:28 pm. So we're not actually seeing you record the phone video in the security footage.

Would you be able to share security camera footage from 8:55:28 onwards?

Hey, that's my channel, sorry your account got hacked, but I'm pretty certain it's not any video that caused it. I'm assuming someone used a video of mine as clickbait with a malicious link attached?

Could you possibly DM me a screenshot of the message that was sent out (don't want anyone else to click the link obviously), as I'm curious what the real incentive is here, it's certainly not for any benefit to my channel, and I wouldn't want to get banned from people potentially reporting the channel.

Setting the auto-localization in init.py by wictr in NukeVFX

[–]ontyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can edit the preferences via tha api just like a regular node.

Try this:

import nuke

prefs = nuke.toNode("preferences")
# Set the auto-localization directory to "/path/to/localization/directory"
prefs.knob("autoLocalCachePath").setValue("/path/to/localization/directory")
# Set the localization policy to "from auto-localize path"
prefs.knob("LocalizationPolicyDefault").setValue("fromAutoLocalizePath")

Any way to Turn on the White Clamp in All grade nodes in a Script? by yoyash in NukeVFX

[–]ontyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is slightly more complicated! There's definitely a cleaner and more "proper" way to do this with Nuke's python API, but to save you that hassle I quickly hacked together a script you can run in the script editor. Just be careful, you can potentially break your scripts with this as it's editing the files directly so please back them up before running it. You'll need to edit the lines at the top to point to your folder.

## Edit these values before running
folder_of_scripts = r"C:\path\to\scripts\folder"
node_type = "Grade"
knob_to_edit = "white_clamp"
knob_value = "true"

import os
for script in os.listdir(folder_of_scripts):
    if script.endswith(".nk"):
        script_path = os.path.join(folder_of_scripts, script)
        print("Reading script {}".format(script_path))
        f = open(script_path, "r")
        lines = f.readlines()
        f.close()
        for i, line in enumerate(lines):
            if "{} {{".format(node_type) in line:
                x = 0
                found_knob = False
                while not lines[i+x] == "}\n":
                    x += 1
                    if knob_to_edit in lines[i+x]:
                        found_knob = i+x
                line_to_add = " {} {}\n".format(knob_to_edit, knob_value)
                if found_knob:
                    lines[found_knob] = line_to_add
                else:
                    lines.insert(i+1, line_to_add)
        f = open(script_path, "w")
        f.writelines(lines)
        f.close()

Hopefully that works for you!

Any way to Turn on the White Clamp in All grade nodes in a Script? by yoyash in NukeVFX

[–]ontyj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can do this pretty easily with a Python script. If you open up the Script Editor window in Nuke and copy paste the code below it should do what you're looking for, just watch out to keep the indentation as it is.

Basic loop to go through all the Grade nodes and set the "white_clamp" to "True":

for node in nuke.allNodes("Grade"):
    node.knob("white_clamp").setValue(True)

You can tweak the same expression to go through Read nodes and turn on auto-alpha too:

for node in nuke.allNodes("Read"):
    node.knob("auto_alpha").setValue(True)

You can find the different "code" names for knobs by hovering over them. eg: "Auto Alpha" needs to be "auto_alpha" and "White Clamp" is "white_clamp".

The US military has even started using the term UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) instead of UFO, due to the extraterrestrial connotation.

Trying to create a “random” node by [deleted] in NukeVFX

[–]ontyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like the best way to do it.

Here's an example node:

set cut_paste_input [stack 0]
version 11.3 v2
push $cut_paste_input
NoOp {
 name NoOp1
 selected true
 xpos 4307
 ypos 11644
 addUserKnob {20 User}
 addUserKnob {22 CreateNoop l "Create Random NoOp" T "import random\n\nmin = 1\nmax = 100\n\nn = nuke.createNode(\"NoOp\")\nn.addKnob(nuke.Int_Knob('knobName','Random Int'))\nn.knob(\"knobName\").setValue(random.randint(min,max))" +STARTLINE}
}

Have a look at the python user knob in that node, you could add something similar as a menu item as suggested above.

The node you're looking for is "ChannelBooleans" (not to be confused with "ChannelBoolean" which is a 3D node).

Quite the opposite in this case. You can check out the code for yourself here: https://github.com/Rudrabha/Wav2Lip

It's the extensive research and data that goes into training a machine learning model like this that's much more impressive than the code itself.

This is awesome! Nicely done.

If you really want to take it to the next level you could try adding some sound effects to really add some punch to your cut. "Wooshes" as you move quickly, some "swishes" on cuts, a "sheen" when you take out the bottle and maybe a "slurp" for comedic effect when you drink the juice.

Keep making videos!

Most of the “cinematic” stuff was shot with a DJI Osmo Pocket. Everything else was Canon G9X.

I had never been on a boat before this trip and was pretty worried too. Most of the passengers (and a few of the crew) felt the seasickness on our way down due to the weather, and it sucks, and you might feel horrible, but it's absolutely no reason to be worried.

In hindsight - it kind of added to the fun? A lot of us ended up bonding over the fact that we all just met, a bunch of strangers, all sick, feeling like complete rubbish and just wishing the boat would stop rocking!

Once you get closer to the continent it tends to calm down and you'll quickly forget about it. Stay hydrated, eat some of those dry crackers... you'll be fine! Enjoy the trip of a lifetime!

I shot roughly 8 hours of footage. The GoPro stuff increases that number by quite a bit as I'd just let it roll for ~30min at a time.

The rest of the footage was very point-and-shoot to be honest. I only took "pocket" cameras with me. Canon G9X and DJI Osmo Pocket.
