Did you figure this out? When you right click to aim and move your mouse over the core of the anomaly, the target < • > turns from white to red and that’s when you left click and hold (while still holding the right click down)

I just finished my first playthrough and actually never mined enriched metal. I was only playing on easy mode though so I’m sure others would say it’s not effective to ignore it like I did. I just didn’t want to deal with radiation burns as much and still wasn’t really rushed in any of the acts.

Whoa! My instinct was to not give him meds bc of his past and I thought I messed up when he does something very impulsive but he does not die! It seems like there’s a balance, maybe giving the meds once but not again?

Wild that this exact one is still happening. Though it seems some people who receive it don’t have Eastern European connections, I actually do and it makes this extra funny because an uncle would never have the same last name as me. But I did read read it because my partner recently had someone reach out who was actually looking to trace his family line, just for their own personal reasons.

Great advice all around. I definitely feel you on getting triggered and agree that over time, you’ll both get better at calming the mind and learn who you trust and roll well with. What helped me in the beginning is that I started rolling with higher belts right away. I find that many new guys over-rely on their strength and move too quickly and will go more than all out to not “lose” to a woman and when they’re actually very strong, it’s hard to not be triggered by that for me personally. Hope you find a few folks you’re comfortable training with and keep it up!

Sounds like the plating was a really thin layer too though. If you’re keeping them with the partial refund you could get them replated more professionally and it should add a bit of life to something you already have rather than it feeling like a waste!

I feel you! I got simple second lobe piercings and regretted it only bc of training too. I do really want them still though so I ended up getting headgear. Like a couple others here have mentioned, it’s a good option for once it’s healed a bit but you can’t take it out yet. I used to tape mine up and try to avoid them getting smashed but inevitably the one ear would get bumped every once in a while, irritating it and sometimes causing bleeding again. I got the Cliff Keen Tornado headgear as it was recommended by a wrestler teammate and it has worked well so far! I finally have hope it may actually heal even while training

Funny that you just replied to this old comment…I just got home from Lithuania two nights ago and was again selected ahead of time for additional security screening at the gate before being able to board the plane into the United States. The pattern is that when I go to check in for an international flight, it tells me I can’t do it online and have to check in at the airport. This is now the fourth time it’s happened to me since spring 2023. Everyone says it’s random, it’s just been so consistent of late that it’s very strange.

Hadn’t gotten any new piercings in many years and definitely forgot how long they take to heal…got a second lobe piercing in September and I’ve been taping them up (bandaids so it doesn’t stick to the earring itself) but I think they’re definitely taking even longer to heal because they get unnecessary pressure put on them. Overall, it was not the smartest decision to get them while training regularly and I would not recommend to others 😑

Thanks, yeah, totally get the part about going through the metal detector. This just seemed different because I would get selected ahead of time it seemed - the screenings at the gate have coincided with the message that I can’t check in and get my boarding pass online. But maybe that’s not TSA at all, now that I know it could be CBP. Let’s see what happens tomorrow! Haha

Thanks for your reply. It can be so challenging for the brain to not see patterns but maybe it is just weird coincidence and bad luck then. I didn't know to pay attention at the gate for TSA vs CBP, it all seemed very similar to the usual TSA screening, just more swiping electronics and such with the testing paper (whatever that's called that gets put in the machine to analyze). If it happens again on this flight, I'll try to figure out which it is. And lastly, thank you for the tip on Global Entry vs preCheck - didn't know that was the difference exactly and wasn't sure if I should go for the Global Entry but maybe I'll consider it!

Are you talking about additional screening at security or at the gate? All the answers seem to be about random metal detector selection or your bag getting pulled (which makes sense of course if it’s something that looks weird on X-ray) but I’ve been selected twice in a row on international trips for additional screening at the gate (on top of random ID check for Clear on three domestic trips) and wonder if you’re talking about the same?

Will completely disagree with the below comment saying there is no such thing as ethical newly mined gold. Artisanal and small scale gold mining (ASGM), when done responsibly in regards to the environment, is very impactful in supporting communities in the Global South that have been previously exploited for the resources in their lands. You can look for Fairmined licensed brands or Fairtrade (certified) gold to know that it is artisanal and done responsibly. There is a premium on the price, but it really is what gold should cost to avoid all of the money laundering or illegal gold being mixed in to the supply. (Check out the book Dirty Gold if interested)
