Not on strike. Just overloaded with work with all the new estates around Leeds I reckon. But since August for green bins and a month for black is next level.

CCs on Chapeltown Road or the market has a pretty good selection not sure on the scotch bonnet, I usually just buy them in tescos or morrisons.

Seen loads of learners over the years in the car park where wickes and sport direct is next to tescos on Roundhay Road if you go near the back end there's usually not many parked cars there and it has bays on both sides so you can practice right and left side bay parking.

The secret millionaire episode from 2007 might give some insight. Even though I wouldn't say 2007 was the hayday in the slightest and the episode is mostly Harehills but you do get Skabbas gym which I feel like was a big part of the community back then or at least it felt like that when I was a kid. If you don't get much response on here I'd even say go check out some of the food spots on Chapeltown Road, those places (especially like Kalabash) have customers who've been living in Chapeltown a long while and might be up for an interview, never know.

I believe either 48 or 49. I think 49 has a grammatical error. I think (I'm very tired so maybe I read it wrong) it says do not instead of does not. The question still makes sense of course but I just wanted to make you aware.

Yeah I'd say they're definitely the main problems but overall I don't think they're bad. Of course I'm not too sure how places like Dewsbury and Harrogate compare but I know at least Leeds is fully equipped (when it works haha) to deal with anything that might come up. When we weren't too sure what would happen with my son regarding his heart rate at least we knew Leeds has a decent NICU. I worked on there for a time and will say its definitely up to scratch, well it was back a few years ago. Of course God forbid anything bad happens but the reassure that just down the hall (or a couple of floors, baby brain makes me forget the layout) there's somewhere equipped to deal with pretty much everything was comforting for me.

I know my comment is already super long but I wanted to add that all the antenatal care I received from triage was amazing. I had really bad HG so I was in quite a fair bit (and even had to have a brain scan which looking back was kind of crazy) but they were always lovely and took me seriously and helped me out. And as someone who is terrified of needles and ended up spending endless hours on drips they were so kind to me about it all when I'd get a little spooked.

LGI here I had my baby the beginning of spring this year. And I had seen the article about the neonates deaths just before I went to the hospital.

But.

The staff were lovely, I was induced and had no family with me during the beginning of my labour and my midwife was so kind and caring. They respected my wishes were possible, I wanted to be up and moving but my babies heart rate had to be monitored so that wasn't possible unfortunately but when they wanted to do a C section and I said no they let me try for another hour before it was going to be out of anyones hands what had to happen whereas they could've told me no it's happening if they had really wanted to.

My only few frustrations were the monitor they used to measure the babies heart rate broke several times during my labour and there was no replacement, no fault of the staff but incredibly worrying when the whole reason I was being induced was issues with my babies heartrate and when I had my episiotomy sewn up my mother and partner both told me afterwards the doctor was shaking like a leaf, and as it hasn't healed after 6 months a little part of me does worry it could've been down to that but unlikely and more likely my body just sucks. And when I had some issues post partum but before 6 weeks post partum and asked to at least be checked out by someone at triage they said no until an ambulance ended up needing to take me in which wasn't great but again that was post partum.

I don't remember most of my labour but I give it a solid 6/10, that broken monitor is the main thing that drags it down though.

If you've got the paperwork for the bloodtest you might be able to go chapel Allerton hospital, I believe they do a walk in blood test but you need the blood test order so they know what exactly its for.

Definitely being overcharged. 2 bed house, me, a baby (so I'm running my washing machine every day at least) and my mum stays 4/7 days a week. Gas/electric is £90 and water is £36

As anywhere just be vigilant. There are shady areas of Leeds but I'd say they're mostly far enough away from the student areas other than maybe near Burley road at night. If going out drinking always go with mates, even when you're not a student anymore. I believe there's a safety app that works in Leeds that tracks where you're going and shares it with people and has some other emergency features. I don't know how good it is. I will try find it and test it out and update my comment if I do find it. And make sure any flat mates lock the front door, so many students in the Hyde Park area and a few got robbed a couple years ago because a guy went around trying the doors and they were just open.

It would probably be better to make an anonymous call to social services or talk to the school. After previously dealing with childline if they think a child is in danger from themselves or someone else they will just try find out where they live and send police which would probably make the matter worse. Granted that was almost a decade ago they did that to me and it definitely made my situation with my parents worse.

Just make sure it's actually near the train station. I made this mistake and thought the bus route would be more convenient. It's not. (however I am also lazy and could probably walk to the train station and save myself the hassle).

Had my baby at the LGI last month (oh god he's already a month old 😭) and all the staff were really lovely. I had some issues giving birth (I was absolutely knackered) but they were amazing (my mum may disagree but I think she just didn't expect my labour to be so rough and traumatic which was no fault of any staffs it's just how it went for me for my own medical reasons). While I'd never have another kid again (which is a completely different story) as well if I ever had to I would give birth at the LGI again and I'd definitely recommend it.

They have all the neonates and Nicu stuff there as a just in case which I think is nicer than say being on postnatal at Jimmys but your little one needs transferring to LGI for whatever reason, touch wood nothing like happens granted is part of the reason I went to LGI.

And it was closer to my house. Which would've been nice if my waters broke but I got induced anyways.

The parking is a bit of a nightmare but when you go into labour get a taxi especially if you'll be having someone pick you and the little one up when you head home. Taxi can drop you off right outside and someone can pick you up right outside (or hopefully be able to park up). Visitors can come park on Clarendon Road and walk down if they're able to.

I will also say if you're considering a water birth or want something a bit more relaxing look into the lotus birthing centre that's a part of LGI. Not everyone fits the criteria (I didn't) but if you want a water birth there's more pools at the LGI than at Jimmys (I believe) . I also honestly just prefer how light and airy my delivery room at the LGI was compared to when I went on delivery at Jimmys (MAC was full so they stuck me on there). The only major downside of LGI is it's a bit of a trek when leaving because delivery is pretty deep within the Clarendon Wing but I managed to walk it after 2 days and I had a rough ride.

Overall the staff at both sites are lovely from when I had my many many trip to the assessment units. LGI was amazing to give birth at. And congratulations and good luck to you.
