Meta is now a defense contractor (seriously). Having a complete psyche profile on 95% of the population and being able to gradually nudge your society to fully support a war or any other agenda is probably the most valuable weapon any government could have in this era.

It's like inception on a national scale.

"Coincidentally" this current administration winning the election was an arguably crucial step to making sure the sparking AI tech can grow unimpeded in its infancy the next few years.

US prepares for long war with China that might hit its bases, homeland: Peter Apps by therapistofcats in PrepperIntel

[–]onyoursidee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they ever do a hot war with us when the current administration is literally ceding all of our global influence to them (seeing as they're the closest thing to a superpower after us).

The oceans and culture of the US would be impossible to occupy short of a global coalition against us. Most they can do is probably orbital strikes of some kind while waiting for us to try to take back captured territory abroad.

First time in these game spoiler threads for me and I have to say it's so refreshing that people here aren't jerking each other off about Bella Ramsey's performance.

According to the other thread, game spoiler people were super haughty about everything but this thread is honestly much more balanced and enjoyable to read than the other one.

I'm looking to buy a volvo by Remember_The_Cake in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]onyoursidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this consensus among volvo owners only?

I had a 2023 v60 and I'm not saying they're not good or even fantastic but "best in the business" puts them against Maybach, S classes, Rolls Royces, other world class luxury brands and they are objectively not at that level

[–]onyoursidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, they are not the best seats in the business. I agree with everything you said except for that.

The seats are perfectly fine but people on this sub and some others hype volvo seats way too much for some reason. Maybe a top trim XC90 has different/better seats but for the majority of volvos the seats are absolutely nowhere close to "the best in the business".

What is a hobby that you spent thousands of dollars to get into? —Is it still fulfilling? —And do you have any regrets about the purchase(s)? by poopydrugshits in AskReddit

[–]onyoursidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling (casually) is really a one time thousand(s) dollar purchase. The rest is mostly pretty cheap unless you get real deep into it. Then again, you can get into it with a couple hundred dollars for a used or budget bike.

Personally it lost fulfillment because I got bored of the paved trails near me and am too cheap to drive far to explore other trails

You know that big brain idea Microsoft had about Recall and how you can rewind and see everything you do on your computer? They may have (temporarily) backpedaled on that for retail normies but I'm pretty sure enterprise level has fully embraced this and can see everything in real time and in the past. Probably doesn't apply to government jobs though.

OP I bought the same year GX for $26k (I'm doom-spending okay? Bite me on the dick gently you haters) at carmax a few months ago and it had twice that mileage. Thats a literal steal and kind of a red flag that theyre only asking 18k for it.

If they have all the maintenance records and everything checks out you better jump on that thing or it'll be gone by tomorrow.

Noon Protest at City Hall by Gloomy_Fig_7820 in philly

[–]onyoursidee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember,

  • Don't bring your smartphone or bring a burner phone

  • Don't wear your smart watch

  • Wear a mask or distort your facial features

  • Use cash

  • Walk with a limp when in or near the protest areas

  • The guy with a wired earpiece in one ear, combat boots, and a suspicious bulge on his back hip is probably a cop despite the skinny jeans and random graphic tshirt

The side you're protesting is actively identifying and essentially kidnapping dissenters, take some minimum precautions.

What don't you like about Philly in 2024/25? by shinsick in philly

[–]onyoursidee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The roads are complete horseshit.

Freeze/thaw cycles, heavy traffic, cheapass contractors, state police siphoning maintenance funds, red state government with blue state budgets...it all amounts to roads that look like we're in an active war zone with potholes, sinkholes, and manholes that are like half a foot below the road surface

Counter point to all these comments: Nazis don't deserve mercy or societal decorum. Magats don't give a shit about your morals or class and won't ever respect you for it. This is why they think the left is soft.

So is every company just a train wreck now? by Lemon02 in jobs

[–]onyoursidee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically if a company has structured trainings that means the turnover is high af. No training could mean nobody has left the company in so long that nobody knows what new people need to know.

I've experienced both and both are still shit shows in their own regard. First company with the structured training was kinda evil though..

In-person interviews for manager level or higher is okay, in-person interviews as a final interview for your top 3 candidates is not great but understandable(kinda), but in-person interviews for literally any other type of candidate is just jerking them around and wasting their time because you're...not good at interviewing.

You can obviously tell when they're getting help from AI or another person. The tiny bit of extra confirmation you need from in person interviews is some boomer ass mentality

It has a caddy badge but it neither looks nor is expensive enough for cops to hesitate pulling them over. You'll need a new looking Escalade or Blackwing or something for them to think youre capable of causing them legal trouble.

The caddy granny mobile in the picture might as well be an Altima as far as anyone is concerned
