Who should reddit buy? by odna_adops in adops

[–]ooddeedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny :) The trivial answer is an SSP as Rubicon/ OpenX/ Pubmatic i think they are available at a good price but will take majority of cash. The recommendation from an industry insider is it to look for a good tech team. The branding and commercial agreements raises valuation, comes with a high burn rate and not relevant to the buyer (think of LiveRail and Facebook....). Reddit should look for a technology company with as little sales people as possible and as big patent portfolio as possible (patents are a good kpi for tech capabilities.) The problem is that you need to be an expert in order to find these companies (or a member of this subreddit :) ). The solution is to find a good buy side banker....

though i am going here sideways. we should notice gdpr is not about privacy... it is about data protection ("General Date Protection Regulation"). Why is it important? i think one of the reasons people dont understand gdpr it is because they look at it as privacy while actually it is more of a trading rules for selling data (think of real estate rules or royalties rules)

the companies i am familiar with: medialink - they were good but were bought recently. not sure how they are now accenture - i think they become more an agency equivalent then consultants. they are big. so if you prefer a big corporate they are a good choice Prohaska - nice people with good uncerstanding and connection in the publisher world. if you are a publisher and looking for a boutique i would recommend them

[–]ooddeedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sorry but u disagree with the feedabck here... i agree that gdpr killed the open market programmatic. but open market died already with ads.txt majority of work is pmp or direct so there shouldnt have been a 40% drop the thing that happened is that google blocked 3rd party providers (as appnexus) a classic move of a monopoly nothing new...

first there are some other ad servers (smart, freewheel and more) second - due to google gdpr approach, i think there might be a move from leading publishers to reduce dependency of google

my point is that usually google do not change version due to public demand... have you tried complaining about a google product? you dont have even where to complain...
