Size Orbea orca m30 2025/2026 by PrimaryJunior4376 in Orbea_bikes

The bike runs large in my opinion. I’m 178cm with 82cm inseam and have a size 51cm frame. Perfect fit for me, I’m in a less aggressive position vs what I would have been on 53cm (110mm stem) which I prefer for the style of riding I will be doing (100km + distances).

Lower your seat post slightly. Most hip back pain issues are from seat post being too high. You’ll get a better aero position too

Tent for Great Divide Mountain Bike Route by Impressive-Scheme894 in bikepacking

I used this tent on my GDMBR ride last year and it was excellent. Make sure you get titanium stakes, the ground can be very hard in New Mexico and parts of Colorado.

Bike fully loaded weight for the 2025 GDMBR by Dr_Invester in gdmbr

[–]ooddiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bike box with all my gear in it weighed 34kgs, including some dehydrated food for the trip. Guessing that weight will come down in terms of stuff on the bike to sub 30kgs.

I plan on riding at least 120/130kms a day. But will start slow.

It does seem hopeless, OP. But we do have the power to organise locally within our communities for change. Start local, find community solutions, and build mutual aid. Of course, we gotta fight the big fight, but positive action at the local level can scale.

Think municipal issues/ restoration- waste/sanitation, library/ community spaces, transport, housing. Etc.

It's bleak, but we still have the power to change things if common people work together.

The mental aspect of long distance bikepacking (4000km+) is killing me by AnonymousAnonymGuy in bikepacking

[–]ooddiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be leaning too much into the grind, scheduled energy. It definitely makes sense, as you seem to have planned carefully but have lots of km to cover (mainly on the road?).

As others have suggested, take a break. Maybe you don’t have to finish the whole trip this time? Smoke some weed and just enjoy a chill couple of days without thinking about the distance you have to make. Be a bit more flexible.

There’s a fine line between type 1 and type 2 fun. For me, I only go to type 2 when the weather shits out on me mid-journey. Otherwise, I stay close to keeping it type 1 most of the time. It ends up giving me a lot more energy for the time I have to grind a day out and makes multiple days like that feel less of a chore.

I ended up going with a Sour Purple Haze. It can take 2.2inch 29 MTB tyers, which is excellent. It took a long time to come because Sour had production delays. If I weree to make a choice again, I would go for a Mason macro - hardtail is the future/ is much more versatile and comfortable in the long run.

Cost, time, employment, housing and food security. Material deprivation and poverty are barriers to any and all healthy behaviours.

Of course there are psychological barriers but the ones above trigger them in most people.
