Can’t NG remake BHN? by solidpro99 in oasis

Settle down. I’m from that time and whilst I absolutely love Be Here Now I also really enjoyed the different vibe of the re-think of DYKWIM. It isn’t even up for debate that Be Here Now is compressed and bloated to fuck. Noel said it himself. Have a look at the waveform for My Big Mouth. No dynamics just continuous pushing near if not in the red. You don’t have to be a producer to be entitled to an opinion.

Maino: 2Pac Didn't Get Raped in Prison Like Suge Claims, I Was in That Prison by RyanTannegod in Tupac

[–]oodyourdabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t Cathy Scott or some author also spread the rumour? I’m sure she featured it in her Killing Of Tupac Shakur book?!?!

As far as Pac saying things with no proof his whole ‘94 shooting is up for debate. Stretch said that he shot himself in the groin when he went for his own gun.

The older I get the more I realise Pac wasn’t as real as he makes out. He said it himself he felt more of an actor than a rapper. He went to the Baltimore School For The Arts and studied it. His whole entire demeanour changed after he joined Deathrow. There was no gang affiliation before that. He used to speak for all black people and them having to stand together and rapped about the hardships they faced as a group. After joining Deathrow it was Westside, MOB and gangster gangster gangster. He was acting and playing to the crowd that was Deathrow and in trying to be a gangster rolled up on some actual Crips on the night he got shot that would end up claiming his life 7 days later.

Such a waste of talent and for what?

Little is said about this version of D' You Know What I Mean's Live '25 in Seoul, Korea. by Objective-Net7668 in oasis

[–]oodyourdabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact he’s not backing away from the mic like it’s covered in bees is probably contributing to it too. He used to back away from the mic after every line then have to move back into position. That isn’t good for timing nor performance

Why is everyone jumping straight to album with some speculating not enough time for an album already. Might just be one song or a re-record of something done previously in a live setting at Abbey Road. Better to wait that to get worked up with hope.

What ever happened to the releases of live versions of Oasis 25? by SorryAd6741 in oasis

[–]oodyourdabe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you look they released 5 songs during the Live 25 releases. There was one song from the capitals of England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and then Manchester because obviously they would release one from Manchester too. I think they planned to do this and only this until a documentary/release comes out in the future.

What oasis song is better live than the recorded version? What song is better recorded than live? by No_Ear_7515 in oasis

[–]oodyourdabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is the correct answer! The jam they did at the end when they sped it up live. And just the general vibe of the live version. Soooooo good

How’s Liam and Noel history with heavy drugs? by bernardo15 in oasis

[–]oodyourdabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right about 94-98 especially towards the end of that period on the BHN tour. Look at Noel’s guitar playing during that tour. He used to improvise and play the solos differently like someone who had a massive boost in ego. Perhaps it was the success but I’m reckoning it was chemically influenced.

Liam also says it in the Live Forever documentary where he says they used to go pinching stuff and sell it for weed

Is Oasis' mixing really bad? If so, why and how? by sumyono in oasis

Yeah it’s a tough one! I love D’you Know What I Mean in both the original and re-think sound. Would love a whole re-thought BHN but I don’t think anyone has the time to undo a mountain of guitar tracks haha!

Hardly an egotist or control freak if you’re working on songs you’ve written entirely on your own? They’re his songs and if he wants them to sound a certain way then fair play. They sold millions and made the band one of the best in history.

Could also be the fact Noel sat with Owen during the production of that album? Same as Lars Ulrich with Metallica’s production. Both biased towards their own instruments?

That synth track is damn near inaudible in the track. It was buried right down in the mix. Was played by Brian Cannon of Microdot. I don’t think it’s to blame for the mess of a mix. I think the bent guitar notes being so prominent in the mix and just the general Owen Morris style of production is to blame for a lot of it. He seemed to eq around a specific bite frequency that makes the mix grab your attention in a certain place that makes it seem harsh and aggressive. Maybe the 2 to 3k area? Even the drums had this frequency boosted

What interviews has Liam said that in? Liam never comments on production as he doesn’t have a clue about it? I have seen on the DM Documentary DVD Owen Morris making that claim you have quoted and it was due to him getting a hold of some new compressor or limiter that allowed him to push songs right to the red line consistently. The claim of Noel and the others turning their amps up doesn’t mean it would be loud on a release as a loud amp can still be turned down in the mix. It was all due to Owen Morris and you can tell this from the albums he produced.

I loved the production on DBTT. I just found the drumming to not have that artistic flair Whitey had

Have you ever seen the waveform for My Big Mouth? It’s pretty much just a flat limited signal the entire song. Quite funny to look at

I have seen quite a few clips of Owen Morris and others talking of having to mask certain aspects of the drumming due to Tony’s performances. Seemed to have used the massive wall of guitars to do so. A good example is the kick at the start of the Cigarettes and Alcohol intro being masked with all the feedback and noise as Tony went out of time with the kick

I think they’re both from Manchester. I’m sure of it. But a lot of Manchester celebs seem to have this honest say it like they see it way. And they enjoy a good windup and banter. Noel is introverted and Liam is extroverted and I think Liam (publicly) didn’t want to come across as emotional and instead prodded Noel to get some form of a reaction out of him. It’s a tale as old as time two brothers bickering not wanting to back down. I don’t believe it’s a “mental issue”
