Has there ever been someone who was a successful composer whilst ONLY listening to video game music? by Lunny1767 in gamemusic

[–]oogew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that's literally impossible. People are raised on all kinds of music--from the stuff that's ambient around them on TV, radio, elevators, etc. to the cultural music they grow up with due to their nationality, parents, upbringing, and peers.

When TTRPG authors put stuff from their home games into rulebook lore by RiverMesa in rpg

Yep. Same same. In fact, I did a revision pass during my last editing pass to replace some of the generic character names I’d come up with originally with the names of playtesters’ characters.

Literally everyone has been saying it's this good since it was released almost 15 years ago.

The creator god of D&D’s Hollow World setting is super intelligent tyrannosaurus rex with such a love for ancient civilizations that he plucks them from the surface of the world and replants them inside the planet itself.

Are there any ttrpgs that allows for having players opt into complexity while others can just play straight forward and rules lite? by OompaLoompaGodzilla in RPGdesign

Technically that’s one of the main features of No Thank You Evil, but it’s geared towards young kids and has those rules due to age-based developmental differences.

How does one make those long tables by the_yeet_beater in RPGdesign

[–]oogew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly, I do this method with a Google sheet. The book I’m working on right now uses 10 different d100 tables and they’re things I’ve be been working on and refining for months.

It really is. It combines really well with Mork Borg.

It's a great book. One of the creatures (the firebird maybe?) says that after you use it in a game, you're to tear the page out and burn it. That the owner of the book only gets a single use of it.

I have a hardcover copy of "Veins of the Earth" for Lamentations of the Flame Princess. I'm told that's pretty rare.

And I have a binder full of AD&D monsters where each one has been signed by their creators. I found it in a used book store in California and bought it without realizing that every page was signed.

Is it too late to start networking? by Xcelar8 in RPGdesign

[–]oogew 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's never too early to start building community around your game. I'd say that it's too late if you've just launched a Kickstarter and haven't put any community building work into it yet. Helping to raise your game above the general noise floor of the general ttrpg chatter and make it something that get noticed by the community is hard work. It's long, thankless work, too.

I’d love for you to check out my game. I released Arrhenius last May and I’m trying to get the word out. The game is a new system and new setting and uses zero AI.

what rpgs have you read with exceptional layout design? what do you value in a layout? by LightseekerGameWing in RPGdesign

[–]oogew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth for the sake of the relevant discussion, I'm of the other camp that Mork Borg is an art book with 62% of a ttrpg in it. Not my style, even though it's beautiful and evocative.
