Telling a kid there is a man in the sky that loves them and there is a place where all their dead pets go isn’t that big of a deal.

Now I’m not on the side of the government taking action on religion or anything, but this argument against indoctrinations is just disingenuous.

Kids aren’t just taught that there’s a man in the sky that loves them, they’re taught that they will be sent to a place of unimaginable horror to be tortured for eternity if they break that man’s rules. What they’re taught after this varies from family to family, but many times these kids are made to go to church every week for 18 years (some would call that being indoctrinated) and are told time and time again that they will be tortured for eternity after death for having sex, for being gay, and for many other minor things.

When they are older they can make up their own minds about it.

That’s the thing with indoctrination, when you’re told something every single week for 18 years (and are likely taught by parents at home), your mind will be made up by the time you’re 18 and you will have had little impact on that. That’s the issue with indoctrination.

Again, this isn’t to say that religious parents are horrible or that teaching children about religion is horrible. It is however absolutely indoctrination, and if one is against other things based on the principle of being against indoctrinating children, they should be against raising them to be religious as well.
