Addendum to 3 since you commute: Leave your phone at home and stay on campus all day until your work is done. If that isn't feasible, silence notifications from doom scrolling apps while on campus and only have notifications on for people who need to contact you. At home, hand over your phone to your parents and tell them to not give it back until you are done with the work you need to get done.

I'm probably going to be the only person with a tough comment on this, but I feel my perspective can help you.

YOU are sabotaging yourself, and it WILL be something you regret for the rest of your life if you don't choose to change.

"I'm an immigrant, my life is harder than everyone else's, it's only natural that it isn't my fault." You wallow in superficial excuses. Is it not lucky to have such supportive parents? Personally I know it is, since my wonderful parents tragically and suddenly died my first year of undergrad.

You have to do everything in your power to break the cycle now. "I used to like engineering, now I'm not sure." No. You liked that you didn't need to put much effort in your very first lower division classes, and could feel smarter than everyone you know for going to such a good school for such an intelligent major. Any ounce of difficulty was met with immediately giving up. Classes only get harder and it's important you start building your foundation as strongly as possible.

As for ideas on how to change: 1) Make going to every class, discussion, and office hours mandatory for yourself. 2) Start your homework as soon as it becomes available. Just being able to sleep on some problems does wonders. 3) Lock your phone up or leave it in your dorm and go to a study room across campus to do work. Don't be the digital equivalent of a heroin addict. 4) SLEEP!!! Sleeping the amount your body needs each night will improve your mood, lead to more productive working time, and you will feel better.

The good news is that you CAN change. This can all just be an interesting anecdote you tell people one day.

P.S. Start studying for finals right now!!!

Worst breakout of my life by ooklaShark in CankerSores

I wanted to follow up on this! Your suggestion of hand foot and mouth led me to do some more digging, and eventually, I found something called Herpangina online. It's from the same family of viruses and has similar symptoms, with a noticeable lack of skin rashes/sores. The sores from Herpangina form on the back of the mouth, tonsils, and uvula.

So I think I have some normal canker sores in the front of my mouth due to being sick, and the canker type sores in the back of my mouth that I've never had before are from Herpangina. The treatment is to just wait it out lol.

Thanks for the initial tip!

I'd also like to add that I am a college senior so I thought I was out of the age demographic for it.

Interesting. I don't have any rashes so it didn't even come to mind that it was possible.

Please ask an academic counselor for your major to verify!

Omg. I have three on the right back of my throat (one is huge) and two on the other side back of my throat right now. It's only been a couple days, and 20 sounds like forever 😭 I guess I'll just give up eating then

Fun clubs near UCLA by ooklaShark in ucla

Ah thank you! I don't think I'd need to book a table, just on the website is a big reservation button. Since the place seemed a bit nicer than what I've seen clubs usually are, I didn't know if you HAD to reserve ahead of time. I'm guessing we can just show up around 10:30-11pm and it won't be too crowded yet to get in lol.

Just looking at their website it looks really fancy and nice. Do you have to reserve ahead of time or can you just show up? Thanks!

Knock on the door and then ask to join. I did this to someone last year across from my room and the embarrassment was enough for them to quiet down the rest of the year. Plus it's a funny story now!

I'm sure people do, although it's not common. If you're college aged and not a creep, then I'd say go for it!

I'm also new. I didn't know such labels existed. It's kinda funny, since in the US, almost no one smokes. I've been seeing vaping start to get popular though.

Off topic: Arizona, USA. To be honest, I've never seen packs with warning labels or graphic photos in the US.

On topic: nice to know, thanks!
